This document describes the DAEWOO Full-Auto Electric Washing Machine, Model DWF-450, an appliance designed for efficient and quiet laundry care.
Function Description
The DWF-450 washing machine incorporates an Air-Bubble Washing System, a One-Touch Operation System, and a low-noise design for a calm washing experience. The Air-Bubble system utilizes a bubble generator to create a large volume of air bubbles. These bubbles actively dislodge dirt from clothes during the wash cycle and help to lift heavy dirt for removal during the rinse cycle. This dual washing method, combining air bubbles and water currents, aims to provide superior wash efficiency compared to conventional washer systems.
The machine offers several full-automatic programs:
- FUZZY PROGRAM (SENSOR): This is a general washing program suitable for most clothes, excluding extraordinary items. An artificial intelligence sensor automatically selects various washing conditions, including wash times, rinse times, spin times, and water level, based on the load. Users can opt out of the soak process if desired.
- HEAVY PROGRAM: Designed for heavily soiled items such as denim, climbing clothes, rucksacks, and sportswear. It includes an optional soak process for enhanced cleaning of very dirty clothes.
- SPEEDY PROGRAM: This program is ideal for less dirty clothes, aiming to reduce water consumption and washing time.
- SUIT PROGRAM: Specifically for suit clothes, with a weight limit of 1.2 kg per wash. It's crucial not to wash leather or suede clothes in this program to prevent shrinkage or deformation. Only neutral detergents should be used, water temperature is fixed at "COLD," and the "LOW" water level is not selectable.
In addition to full-automatic programs, the DWF-450 allows for Reserved Washing, enabling users to set a delayed start for washing completion from 2 to 48 hours. It also supports Partial Process & Combination, where users can individually control wash time (from 0 to 18 minutes), rinse times (from 0 to 4 times), and spin time (from 0 to 9 minutes). A convenient Spin Only operation is also available.

Usage Features
The control panel features intuitive buttons for POWER, WATER TEMP (COLD, COLD+HOT, HOT), WATER LEVEL (MID, HIGH, LOW), RES (for pre-engaging time), PROCESS (for partial processes and combinations), CONTROL ONLY SPIN (for adjusting wash/rinse/spin times or spin only), PROGRAM (for full-automatic programs: FUZZY+SOAK, HEAVY, HEAVY+SOAK, SPEEDY, SUIT, FUZZY), and START/HOLD (for starting, pausing, or changing programs).
Before operating, users are advised to prepare clothes by closing zippers, snaps, and hooks, removing hard objects, and emptying pockets. Sorting clothes by soil level and color is recommended. Proper loading involves dropping items loosely, mixing large and small items, and loading evenly to maintain washer balance and prevent excessive vibration during spin. Overloading can lead to poor cleaning, increased wrinkling, excessive lint, and faster wear of items.
For adding detergents, liquid chlorine bleach, and fabric softener, dedicated inlets are provided. The bleach inlet is specifically for liquid chlorine bleach, and undiluted bleach should not splash onto the washer basket or fabrics. The softener inlet is for liquid fabric softener only.
Safety precautions include:
- Avoiding flammable fluids near the washer.
- Not reaching into the spin basket until motion stops.
- Supervising young children around the appliance.
- Ensuring proper installation on a horizontal, solid floor, away from freezing temperatures and high humidity.
- Connecting to the correct electrical, water, and drain supplies.
- Properly earthing the washer to prevent electrical shock.
- Not using chlorine bleach and ammonia or acid together.
- Unplugging the power cord before servicing.
- Avoiding washing fiberglass materials.
- Not using hot water above 50°C (122°F) to prevent plastic deformation.
- Not spraying water on the control panel or back cover.
- For dual valve models, connecting both hot and cold water inlets to prevent leakage if hot or warm water is selected.
Maintenance Features
Regular care extends the washer's life.
- Cleaning the Exterior: Wipe up spills with a soft, damp cloth and occasionally wipe the outside to maintain its appearance.
- Cleaning the Interior: Clean with 250ml of chlorine bleach mixed with 500ml of detergent, running the washer through a complete cycle.
- Lint Filter Cleaning: The lint filter should be pulled upward, turned inside out, washed with water, and reinserted into its slot.
- Water Inlet Filter Cleaning: If water leaks from the inlet, pull the power plug, turn off the water supply, separate the inlet hose, pull out the inlet filter, and clean it with a brush.
- Drain Filter Cleaning (Pump Model): This filter, located at the back of the washer, screens foreign objects. It should be cleaned every 10 uses to prevent drain problems. To clean, drain residual water, place a container under the filter, turn the cap counter-clockwise, pull out the filter assembly, remove foreign objects, reinsert the filter, and turn the cap clockwise tightly.
- Winter Storage or Moving Care: To prevent damage from freezing, turn off the water faucet, disconnect and drain inlet hoses, run the washer on a drain and spin setting for 1 minute, and unplug the power supply cord. When reusing, flush pipes, reconnect hoses, turn on the faucet, and reconnect the power cord.
- Non-use or Vacation Care: If the washer will not be used for an extended period, unplug the power cord or turn off electrical power, and turn off the water supply to prevent accidental flooding.
The manual also provides a comprehensive Stain Removal Guide for various types of stains (e.g., blood, chewing gum, coffee, grass, grease, mildew, paint), offering specific treatment methods. It emphasizes using warm water for soaking/prewashing, treating stains when fresh, checking fabric colorfastness, and applying stain remover to the back of the stain.
A Troubleshooting section helps users diagnose and resolve common issues such as the washer not operating, water not being supplied, drainage problems, or spin cycle interruptions. Error codes (E, F) displayed on the control panel can often be resolved by opening and closing the lid, then pressing START/HOLD. Normal operating sounds, like the "wing" sound from the water inlet valve or the "sha" sound from the autobalancer during tub stopping, are clarified as not being malfunctions.
