Overview

This document serves as a Quick Start Guide for an Eyeball Network Camera manufactured by Zhejiang Dahua Vision Technology Co., Ltd. It provides essential information regarding the camera's functions, installation, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Eyeball Network Camera is a surveillance device designed for capturing video footage within a network environment. It supports various installation methods and offers features for network configuration, including device initialization and IP address management. The camera is capable of connecting to a network via an Ethernet cable and can be powered by a 12 VDC input or Power over Ethernet (PoE) on select models. It includes a lens with adjustable angles for optimal viewing and may feature an SD card slot for local storage. The device is intended for both indoor and outdoor use, with provisions for waterproof connectors in outdoor scenarios.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power Input: 12 VDC. PoE is available on select models.
  • Network Connection: Ethernet cable.
  • IP Address: Default IP address is 192.168.1.108.
  • Operating Temperature: -40 °C to +60 °C.
  • Dimensions (Model A): 83.3 mm [3.28 in] height, Ø84.0 mm [3.31 in] base diameter, Ø109.9 mm [Ø4.33 in] overall diameter. Mounting holes are 4-4.5 x 5.5 mm, spaced at 3-120°.
  • Dimensions (Model B): Ø109.9 mm [Ø4.33 in] overall diameter, Ø84.0 mm [Ø3.31 in] base diameter. Mounting holes are 4-4.5 x 5.5 mm, spaced at 120.0°.
  • SD Card: Available on select models.
  • Reset Button: Press for 10 seconds to reset the device.
  • Mounting Surface Requirement: Must be strong enough to hold at least three times the weight of the device and bracket.
  • Power Supply Compliance: Must conform to ES1 in IEC 62368-1 standard and be no higher than PS2.

Usage Features

  • Device Initialization: Required for first-time use or after a device reset. This process involves setting a password and configuring network settings. An email address can be provided for password reset, or an XML file can be used if no email is provided.
  • IP Address Configuration: IP addresses can be changed individually or in batches using the ConfigTool. Both static and DHCP modes are supported. For batch changes, devices must share the same login password.
  • Webpage Access: The camera can be accessed and configured through a web browser (e.g., IE browser) by entering its IP address. A plugin may be required for first-time login.
  • Installation Flexibility: The camera supports various installation directions and methods, including ceiling, wall, and pole mounting.
  • Lens Angle Adjustment: The lens can be adjusted to achieve the desired viewing angle after installation.
  • SD Card Installation (Optional): For models with an SD card slot, local storage can be added. It is crucial to disconnect power before installing or removing the SD card.
  • Waterproof Connector (Optional): For outdoor installations, a waterproof connector (if included in the package) should be installed to protect cable joints from short circuits and water damage.
  • Password Management: Users are advised to use strong passwords, change them regularly, and update firmware to the latest version to enhance network security. For older IPC firmware versions, the ONVIF password might need manual synchronization after changing the main system password.

Maintenance Features

  • Disassembly: Non-professionals should not disassemble the device to avoid water leakage or poor image quality. If disassembly is required (e.g., for desiccant replacement), ensure the seal ring is flat and properly seated when reassembling. Contact after-sales service if condensed water appears on the lens or the desiccant turns green.
  • Cleaning:
    • Device Body: Clean with a soft dry cloth. For stubborn stains, use a soft cloth dipped in a neutral detergent, then wipe dry. Avoid volatile solvents (ethyl alcohol, benzene, diluent) or abrasive detergents, as they can damage the coating.
    • Lens/Photosensitive CMOS: Do not directly touch the photosensitive CMOS. Use an air blower to clean dust or dirt from the lens. If necessary, gently wipe with a soft cloth slightly wet with alcohol.
    • Dome Cover (Optical Component): If contaminated with dust, grease, or fingerprints, use degreasing cotton moistened with a little ether or a clean soft cloth dipped in water, then gently wipe clean. An air gun can also be used for blowing dust away.
  • Rust Prevention (Stainless Steel Models): For stainless steel cameras used in corrosive environments (e.g., seaside, chemical plants), rust may develop. Use an abrasive soft cloth moistened with a little acid solution (vinegar recommended) to gently wipe it away, then wipe dry.
  • General Care:
    • Avoid placing heavy stress, violent vibration, or immersing the device in liquid during transportation, storage, or installation.
    • Store and use the device under allowed humidity and temperature conditions.
    • Avoid humid, dusty, extremely hot or cold sites with strong electromagnetic radiation or unstable illumination.
    • Do not aim the device at strong light sources (lamplight, sunlight) to prevent reducing CMOS sensor lifespan, overbrightness, and flickering.
    • Avoid exposing the device surface to laser beam radiation from laser beam devices.
    • Prevent liquid from flowing into the device.
    • Protect indoor devices from rain and dampness.
    • Do not block ventilation openings.
    • Protect line cords and wires from being walked on or squeezed.
    • Ensure an emergency disconnect device is installed for power cut-off.
    • Use a lightning protection device for outdoor scenarios and comply with lightning protection regulations.
    • Ground the function earthing portion (if available) for improved reliability.
    • Power off the device when installing the dome cover after camera adjustment to avoid electrostatic discharge. Avoid direct contact with the cover or exposing it to other equipment/human bodies during installation.
  • Security Updates: Regularly update firmware to the latest version and isolate computer networks to strengthen network, device data, and personal information protection.
