Overview

This document is an operation manual for Daikin Room Air Conditioners, specifically models FTX25KNV1B and FTX35KNV1B, featuring INVERTER technology for year-round comfort. The manual provides comprehensive instructions on the device's functions, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Daikin Room Air Conditioner is designed to provide enhanced comfort and energy savings through various operational modes and features. Its core function is to regulate room temperature and humidity, offering cooling, heating, drying, and fan-only operations. The INVERTER technology allows for efficient operation by adjusting the compressor speed to maintain desired temperatures, leading to reduced energy consumption.

The unit includes a COMFORT AIRFLOW function, which optimizes airflow direction to prevent cold or warm air from blowing directly onto occupants. In COOL operation, airflow is directed upward, while in HEAT operation, it is directed downward. This feature aims to create a more comfortable environment by distributing air evenly without causing discomfort from direct drafts.

Another key function is ECONO operation, which limits the maximum power consumption of the air conditioner. This is particularly useful when multiple electrical devices are operating simultaneously on a shared electrical circuit, helping to prevent circuit breakers from tripping. This function ensures efficient operation while managing the overall electrical load.

The POWERFUL operation function allows the air conditioner to quickly maximize its cooling or heating effect. In this mode, the unit operates at its maximum capacity for a set period (typically 20 minutes) to rapidly achieve the desired temperature. After this period, the system automatically reverts to its previous settings, providing a quick boost when needed.

The air conditioner also features TIMER operation, enabling users to automatically switch the unit on or off at predetermined times. This includes ON TIMER and OFF TIMER functions, which can be used independently or combined to schedule operation, for example, to turn on before arrival or turn off after sleeping. The NIGHT SET mode, activated with the OFF TIMER, automatically adjusts the temperature setting (0.5°C up in COOL, 2.0°C down in HEAT) to prevent excessive cooling or heating during sleeping hours, further enhancing comfort and energy efficiency.

Usage Features

The air conditioner is controlled via a remote controller, which displays current settings on an LCD screen. The remote controller allows for easy selection of various operation modes:

  • AUTO operation: Automatically selects an appropriate operation mode (COOL or HEAT) based on the indoor temperature. The system adjusts settings at regular intervals to maintain the user-defined comfort level.
  • COOL operation: Lowers the room temperature.
  • DRY operation: Reduces humidity while maintaining the indoor temperature as much as possible. In this mode, temperature and airflow rate are automatically controlled, and manual adjustment of these functions is unavailable.
  • HEAT operation: Raises the room temperature.
  • FAN ONLY operation: Circulates air in the room without heating or cooling.

Users can adjust the airflow rate to increase comfort, with settings ranging from "Indoor unit quiet" to "Airflow rate 1-5 (Low to High)." A "quiet operation" mode is available for reduced noise levels. The airflow direction can also be adjusted. The remote controller allows for automatic up and down swing of the flap (horizontal blade) or setting it to a desired fixed position. Vertical louvers can be manually adjusted by holding their knobs.

The remote controller also includes a Fahrenheit/Celsius display switch, allowing users to toggle between temperature units by pressing the "TEMP °F/°C" and "ON (TIMER)" buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds.

For convenience, an indoor unit ON/OFF switch is located on the unit itself, which can be used to start or stop operation if the remote controller is unavailable. When operated via this switch, the unit defaults to AUTO mode, 25°C temperature setting, and AUTO airflow rate.

Maintenance Features

Regular care and cleaning are essential for maintaining the air conditioner's performance and longevity. The manual outlines a simple cleaning routine for various parts:

  • Front panel: Can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth using neutral detergent if dirty.
  • Air filter: Should be cleaned every two weeks. This involves opening the front panel, pulling out the air filters, and then vacuuming dust or washing them with water. If heavily soiled, they can be washed with neutral detergent thinned with lukewarm water and dried in the shade.
  • Titanium apatite photocatalytic air-purifying filter (without frame): Requires cleaning every 6 months and replacement every 3 years. For cleaning, dust can be vacuumed, or the filter can be soaked in lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes if very dirty. After washing, excess water should be shaken off, and the filter allowed to dry in the shade. It's important not to wring out the filter.
  • Indoor unit, outdoor unit, and remote controller: Can be wiped with a soft cloth.

The manual emphasizes several precautions for cleaning, such as stopping operation and turning off the circuit breaker before cleaning, avoiding contact with aluminum fins, and not using hot water (above 40°C), volatile liquids (like benzene or thinner), polishing compounds, or rough scrubbing brushes.

For long periods of non-use, such as during spring or autumn, it is recommended to operate the unit in FAN ONLY mode for several hours to dry out the inside, then turn off the circuit breaker and remove the batteries from the remote controller.

The manual also recommends periodical maintenance by a qualified contractor, in addition to user cleaning, especially if the air conditioner's interior becomes foul after several seasons of use, which can lead to poor performance.

Troubleshooting information is provided to help users identify and resolve common issues, such as the unit not operating, sudden stops, or unusual sounds. It also includes instructions for fault diagnosis using the remote controller, which can display error codes to assist in identifying problems.
