This document is an owner's manual for a portable air conditioner, covering models DPA100B6WDB and DPA120B6WDB-6. It provides instructions in English, French, and Spanish.
Function Description
This portable air conditioner is designed for indoor, residential use to provide cooling, dehumidification (dry mode), and fan-only operation. It features an automatic timer for scheduled on/off operation and a sleep feature to conserve energy during sleeping hours. A "Follow Me" feature allows the remote control to act as a temperature sensor, adjusting the unit's settings based on the remote's location for optimal comfort.
Important Technical Specifications
- Models: DPA100B6WDB, DPA120B6WDB-6
- Power Supply: The appliance is designed for a specific voltage and frequency, indicated on the serial rating plate. It requires a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet.
- Temperature Range (Cool Mode): 17 - 30°C (62 - 86°F)
- Clearance:
- Minimum 30 cm (12 inches) on all sides (front and sides)
- Minimum 50 cm (20 inches) on the back
- Remote Control Distance (Follow Me Feature): Maximum 8 meters (26 feet)
- Refrigerant: The manual mentions refrigerant moving inside the appliance, indicating it uses a refrigeration cycle for cooling.
- Air Filters: Three air filters are present in the appliance.
Usage Features
Control Panel and Remote Control:
The unit can be operated via a control panel on the unit itself or a remote control. The remote control requires two AAA batteries.
Operating Modes:
- Cool Mode: Provides cooling. Temperature can be set between 17 - 30°C (62 - 86°F) using up/down arrows. Fan speed can be adjusted (low, medium, high, auto) via the remote. The exhaust hose must be installed for best results.
- Dry Mode: Removes excess moisture from the air. Humidity level and fan speed are automatically set and cannot be modified. Water condenses inside the appliance and drains from the back.
- Fan Mode: Runs the internal fan without engaging the cooling function. Fan speed can be adjusted (low, medium, high, auto) via the remote.
- Auto Mode: A pre-set factory program that automatically defines the mode (cool or fan) and fan speed based on the set and ambient temperatures.
Special Features:
- Swing Button: Activates/deactivates auto-swing for the horizontal louver. Pressing again stops the louver at the desired angle.
- Sleep Feature: Conserves energy during sleep. When activated, the set temperature increases by 2 degrees over a 2-hour period and holds for 7 hours before returning to normal operation. Can be canceled anytime.
- Timer Feature:
- Automatic Off Timer: Set the appliance to turn off after a desired number of hours (0.5-hour increments up to 10 hours, then 1-hour increments up to 24 hours).
- Automatic On Timer: Set the appliance to turn on after a desired number of hours.
- Simultaneous On/Off Timers: Both can be set at the same time. The display counts down to the first scheduled event. The timer functions once and then returns to regular operation.
- Follow Me Feature: The remote control has a temperature sensor. When activated, the remote displays the current temperature at its location and sends a signal to the air conditioner every 3 minutes. The appliance adjusts its set temperature based on the remote's location. The feature ends if no signal is received for 7 minutes. Available in cool and auto modes.
- Shortcut Function (Remote Only): Allows saving a preferred setting (temperature and fan speed). Press and hold the shortcut button for 2 seconds to save. Pressing it again recalls the saved setting. If no favorite is set, it defaults to Auto mode at 29°C (79°F) with auto fan speed.
- LED Display: Shows set temperature (°C or °F), timer settings, and room temperature (in dry and fan modes). Pressing up and down arrows for 3 seconds toggles between °C and °F.
- Filter Light: Illuminates after 250 hours of use as a reminder to clean the filter. Reset by pressing and holding the sleep button for 3 seconds.
Installation:
The manual provides detailed instructions for installing the window kit for both hung window and sliding window types. It includes components like air outlet adapter, exhaust hose, window slider adapter, window sliders, bolts, foam seals (adhesive and non-adhesive), security bracket, and drain hose. Proper installation of the exhaust hose is crucial to prevent impeding airflow.
Water Drainage:
The appliance collects condensed water.
- Drain Plug: For manual drainage. In cool mode, the internal drain pan fills, and the digital display shows error code "P1" when full. The air conditioning or dehumidifying operation stops until drained.
- Continuous Drain Option: A continuous drain hose can be attached to the upper drain plug for continuous drainage, especially in dry mode or high humidity. Gravity drainage is recommended, ensuring the hose is positioned downwards.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning:
- Cabinet: Unplug before cleaning. Clean with a lukewarm damp cloth and neutral detergent. Dry with a lint-free dry cloth. Do not use gasoline, paint thinner, or other chemicals. Do not wash directly with water.
- Air Filters: Three air filters should be cleaned every two weeks for efficient performance. More frequent cleaning may be needed in households with animals. External grills should also be wiped to prevent blocked airflow.
Long-Term Storage:
- Drain all water from the appliance.
- Run the appliance on Fan mode for half a day in a warm room to dry the inside and prevent mold.
- Turn off, unplug, wrap the cord, and bundle it with tape.
- Remove batteries from the remote control.
- Clean and reinstall air filters.
- Store in a cool, dark place. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat.
Troubleshooting:
The manual includes a troubleshooting section for common issues like:
- Appliance not operating (e.g., plug not fully inserted, blown fuse).
- Insufficient cooling (e.g., dirty air filters, blocked airflow, appliance size too small).
- Noise (e.g., uneven floor, dirty air filters, normal gurgling sounds of refrigerant).
- Odors (e.g., mold formation, use of algicide tablet).
Error Codes:
- E1: Room temperature sensor error.
- E2: Evaporator temperature sensor error.
- E4: Display panel communication error.
- P1: Water tray is full – requires attaching drain hose and draining excess water.
Safety Information:
The manual emphasizes important safety instructions, including grounding requirements, warnings against improper use of the grounding plug, and precautions against using extension cords or adapters. It also advises against operating the appliance in areas with standing water, near combustible materials, or without filters. The appliance is intended for indoor, residential use only. If transported on its back or side, it must stand upright for 6 hours before use.
