Usage Features:
The barbecue is designed for outdoor use only, in well-ventilated areas, and must be protected from precipitation and elements during use and storage. Before lighting, it should be placed on a firm, level, non-flammable surface (e.g., flagstones, paving stones, or packed earth), clear of combustible materials like grass, plants, or rubbish.
To use the barbecue:
- Ensure the gas canister is correctly connected.
- Lift off the lid.
- Insert a long lighter through the ventilation hole in the bottom of the kettle, positioning the tip close to the burner.
- Light the lighter.
- Open the regulator on the barbecue to ignite the gas, then remove the lighter.
- Turn the regulator to the desired position to adjust heat.
- To turn off the barbecue, close the regulator.
A crucial safety warning advises that if the burner cannot be lit, the regulator must be turned off, and users should wait five minutes before attempting to light it again following the ignition procedure. Users should always open the lid before lighting to prevent gas explosions and maintain a safe distance from the barbecue when lighting. Separate cooking utensils for raw and cooked meat are recommended to prevent cross-contamination.
Maintenance Features:
Regular maintenance is essential for safe and efficient operation.
Cleaning:
- After Use: It is recommended to let the barbecue burn off any food residue for about 15 minutes after use.
- Barbecue Rack, Flame Tamer, and Drip Tray: These parts can be cleaned with a wire brush while still warm. For stubborn burnt-on food, soak them in soapy water, scrub with a scouring pad, rinse with water, and apply cooking oil before next use.
- Lid Interior: If the paint appears to be peeling, it's likely charred food residue. Clean the inside of the lid with hot soapy water, rinse with clean water, and allow to dry. NEVER use oven cleaner.
- Barbecue Base: Food residue in the base can be removed with a brush, scraper, or scouring pad. Wipe the base with a well-wrung cloth and allow to dry.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior with a well-wrung cloth. Avoid aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents or utensils.
Cleaning the Burner:
- Burner holes can become blocked by insects, so regular cleaning is necessary.
- Turn off the regulator.
- Lift off the flame tamer.
- Clean the burner with a soft brush or compressed air.
- Clean the nozzles with a pipe cleaner or thin steel wire.
- Regularly check the burner for cracks or other signs of damage.
Storage:
The barbecue should only be stored indoors if the gas canister has been disconnected. Store it in a dry location, protected from wind and rain.
Safety Precautions:
- Use outdoors only, in well-ventilated areas.
- Protect from precipitation and elements.
- Place on a firm, level, non-flammable surface.
- Keep clear of flammable objects.
- Maintain a safe distance from combustible materials during use.
- Parts become very hot; keep children and pets at a safe distance.
- Never move the barbecue while lit or hot.
- Never use indoors.
- Change gas bottles outdoors, away from naked flames and ignition sources.
- In case of a leak, immediately turn off the gas supply and avoid ignition sources. Ventilate the area.
- Perform a leak test with soapy water (1 part washing-up liquid, 2 parts water) around the gas canister connection when connecting a new canister or after prolonged non-use. Never use a naked flame for leak testing.
- Do not modify the barbecue, regulator, or burner. Do not open factory-sealed parts.
- Use barbecue gloves when handling.
- Always open the lid before lighting to prevent gas explosions.
- Always light from below, through the ventilation hole, not from above.
- Keep face at a safe distance when lighting.
- Turn off the gas supply at the regulator after use.
