malfunction to specific circuits. As shown in the illustration,
some checks may be made without opening the meter, while
others may require access to internal circuitry.
CAUTION
Do not attempt any internal repairs before observ 
ing the cautions and warnings in paragraph 5.3.
Check all input and line (if BE9 is used) connec 
tions before assuming an internal circuit cause of
the malfunction symptom. Read and understand
Chapter 4, Principles of Operation, before attemp 
ting any repair.
5.3 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES
a. Remove input signal connections before opening the case.
b. Take care that static discharges do not contact static 
sensitive IC components. Use grounding straps and anti-static
bags and devices when handling and storing these components.
5.4 COMPONENTS
Figures 5-2 identifies and locates the components for con 
venient trouble shooting. Refer to chapter 4 for waveform
and voltage levels in obtaining test comparisions.
