4.4 Z-axis specific parameters
There are two types of Z-axis:
• A single Z-axis. In this case both fingers move symmetrically from and to eachother from the
middle of the machine. The sheet is also always positioned from the middle of the machine.
• A Z1-axis and a Z2-axis. In this case the fingers are separately controlled by an auxiliary
axis. Default the middle of the sheet is positioned in the middle of the machine, but also
other positions can be programmed.
A single Z-axis
The Z-axis position is automatically computed. To compute these positions the parameter Z-
distance is necessary. You can find the Z-distance parameter in the program constants menu of
the programming mode. The Z-distance is the distance from the end of the sheet to the middle of
the Z-axis finger.
Figure 4.4.a
In data preparation and data editing the Z-value is automatically computed during
postprocessing. The Z-axis value is computed according to the formula:
• Z = L - 2 x Z-distance (L = programmed product length)
A Z1-axis and Z2-axis
When you have a Z1-axis and a Z2-axis, you have to program four machine parameters:
• Z1min;
• Z1max;
• Z2min;
• Z2max.
To prevent collision of the fingers the following condition is necessary:
• Z2min - Z1min > mechanical distance
This distance should always be taken into account.
