How to prepare espresso using ground coee
• Insert the lter for ground coee (D2 or D3) in the lter-
holder (g. 10). Use the lter if wanting to make
one coee or the lter if wanting to make 2
coees.
• To prepare one coee, ll the lter with one level
measuring spoon of ground coee, about 0.24 oz./7 gr
(g. 11). If you wish to prepare two cups of coee, ll
the lter with two less-than-level measuring spoons
of ground coee (about 0.48 oz./7+7 gr.). Fill the lter
a little at a time to prevent the ground coee from
overowing.
Attention:
For correct use, before lling the lter with ground coee
always make sure there is no residual coee from the previous
infusion in the lter.
• Distribute the ground coee evenly and press it lightly
using the coee tamper (g. 12). Pressing the ground
coee is very important to obtain a good espresso. If
excessively pressed, the coee will slowly leak and it will
be stronger. Whereas, if slightly pressed, the coee will
come out too quickly and will be light.
• Remove any excess coee from the rim of the lter-holder
and attach it to the machine: for correct attachment,
align the lter-holder handle to symbol OPEN (g.
13), attach the lter-holder and turn handle to the right,
until aligned to position CLOSE (g. 14).
• Position the cup or cups under the lter-holder spouts
(g. 15). It is advised to heat the cups before making the
coee, rinsing them with hot water.
• Ensure the lights relative to the coee buttons are on,
press the coee buttons ( or ): the appliance
proceeds and interrupts automatically.
How to prepare espresso using pods
Please note:
use pods that comply with the ESE Standard: this will be
indicated on the packaging by the following mark.
The ESE Standard is a system accepted by
leading coee pod manufacturers and allows
espresso coee to be made simply and
without mess.
• Insert the lter for pods coee (D4 ) in the lter-
holder (g. 10).
• Insert the pod, centering it as close as possible on the
lter (g. 16). Always follow the instructions of the pod
pack for correct positioning of the pod in the lter.
• Attach the lter-holder to the machine: for correct
attachment, align the lter-holder handle to symbol
OPEN (g. 13), attach the lter-holder and turn handle to
the right, until aligned to position CLOSE (g. 14).
