Preparations for use
What water to use?
The appliance works with normal tap water.
In case of very hard water (hardness above 27°F) we suggest
using demineralised water diluted with 50% tap water.
Never use demineralised water on its own. Never use chemi-
cal substances or detergents (e.g. perfumed water, essences,
descaling solution, etc).
Important!
Do not use mineral or other types of water (such as rainwater
or water for batteries or air conditioners etc.).
Filling the reservoir
Danger!
Make sure the power cable is unplugged from the mains so-
cket.
• Open the door of the water reservoir and ll. Never
exceed the MAX level marked on the reservoir (0.7 l).
• Plug the appliance into a mains socket.
Please note:
The rst time you use the appliance, the steam generator is
empty.
When lling the steam generator for the rst time, it will take
longer to heat up as the air must be eliminated from the ste-
am generator and replaced by the water.
During lling/heating it is normal for the pump to make a
noise.
The appliance will also run out of water much more quickly
than with subsequent lls.
Steam ironing
• Turn the appliance on by rotating the dial G to one of the
steam positions. The light on the control panel and
light L on the iron come on.
• Wait for the (steam ready) light I to come on and the
light L on the iron to go o.
• To deliver steam, press the steam button M, under the
handgrip.
Please note:
• When used for the rst time, the appliance may give o
smoke and an odour for several minutes. This is caused
by heating and subsequent drying of the sealers used in
assembling the steam generator and iron.
You are recommended to ventilate the room.
• The lights I and L will go on and o during ironing, according
to the temperature reached by the steam generator and iron.
This is part of normal operation and not a cause for concern.
• While ironing, it is normal to hear the water ll pump come
on and go o. This is caused by transfer of water from the re-
servoir to the steam generator.
It is part of normal operation and is not a cause for concern.
• Each time the iron is used (including for the rst time) or if
you have not used steam for several minutes, press the steam
delivery button a number of times away from the ironing bo-
ard. This will eliminate condensation from the steam circuit.
• SOME MODELS ONLY: To discharge steam continuously,
move the steam lock O backwards.
