What to do if DEMAG Engine brake does not release?

  If the brake does not release, ensure the correct voltage is applied to the brake control module, referring to the rating plate. If there is a brake control module failure, replace it, and check the brake coil resistance and switchgear components. If the maximum permissible air gap is exceeded due to worn brake lining, adjust the brake or replace the complete brake lining carrier. Check for a voltage drop in the power supply line exceeding 10% and ensure the correct supply voltage is applied. In case of a brake coil short-circuit, replace the complete brake with control unit (specialist workshop) and check switchgear components.

  If the fuses trip or the motor protection trips immediately, it could be due to several reasons. Check for a short-circuit in the supply line and eliminate it. It could also be a short-circuit or earth fault in the motor, in which case the motor must be sent to a specialist workshop for repair. Ensure that the power supply leads are correctly connected. If not - correct the motor connection.

  If the motor does not brake, the brake lining might be worn out. Replace the complete brake lining carrier. The manual brake release device might be incorrectly adjusted, so set the adjusting nuts to the correct setting. Also, check if the manual brake release device is locked and release the locking mechanism, removing the lever. Finally, the brake torque might be incorrect, so change the brake torque.
