What to do if DEMAG Engine brake does not release?
    • K
      Kelly YoungAug 17, 2025
If the brake does not release, ensure the correct voltage is applied to the brake control module, referring to the rating plate. If there is a brake control module failure, replace it, and check the brake coil resistance and switchgear components. If the maximum permissible air gap is exceeded due to worn brake lining, adjust the brake or replace the complete brake lining carrier. Check for a voltage drop in the power supply line exceeding 10% and ensure the correct supply voltage is applied. In case of a brake coil short-circuit, replace the complete brake with control unit (specialist workshop) and check switchgear components.

What to do if fuses trip immediately in DEMAG ZBA Engine?
    • L
      Lindsey PaulAug 20, 2025
If the fuses trip or the motor protection trips immediately, it could be due to several reasons. Check for a short-circuit in the supply line and eliminate it. It could also be a short-circuit or earth fault in the motor, in which case the motor must be sent to a specialist workshop for repair. Ensure that the power supply leads are correctly connected. If not - correct the motor connection.

Why DEMAG Engine motor does not start?
    • D
      danielmoralesAug 22, 2025
If the motor does not start, several factors could be at play. The fuse might have tripped, so replace it. The power supply line might be interrupted, so check the connections. The motor protection might have tripped, so verify its correct setting. A defective control could also be the reason, in this case check the motor connection. Finally, the brake might not be releasing; refer to item 10 “Brake does not release”.

What to do if DEMAG ZBA has incorrect direction of rotation?
    • M
      monicaoliverAug 28, 2025
If the motor has an incorrect direction of rotation, the motor might be incorrectly connected. To resolve this, swap two supply lines.

Why DEMAG ZBA motor does not start or starts slowly?
    • F
      Frank JohnsonAug 31, 2025
If the motor does not start or starts slowly, it may be because a motor intended for delta connection is connected in star. Correct the motor connection. Another cause could be extreme voltage or frequency deviation from the setpoint value, so improve the quality of the power supply and check the power supply line cross-section.

What causes excessive noise in DEMAG ZBA?
    • G
      grobinsonSep 2, 2025
Excessive noise can be caused by several factors: * Anti-friction bearing distorted, dirty or damaged. Re-align motor, inspect anti-friction bearings, replace if necessary. * Rotating parts vibrating. Correct any imbalance. * Foreign bodies in cooling air circuit. Clean cooling air paths.

What to do if DEMAG Engine experiences extreme loss of speed under load?
    • N
      Nicholas BrandtSep 5, 2025
If the motor experiences extreme loss of speed under load, it could be due to overload. Measure the output and consider using a larger motor or reducing the load if necessary. Another possible cause is voltage drop, in which case you should use a larger power supply line cross-section.

What to do if DEMAG ZBA motor will not start in star connection?
    • M
      markboothSep 8, 2025
If the motor will not start in star connection, but starts in delta connection, it might be due to insufficient torque in star connection. If the delta starting torque is not too high, start up direct in delta connection; otherwise use a larger motor or special design (contact manufacturer). A contact fault in the star-delta starter could also be the cause, so eliminate the fault.

What to do if DEMAG ZBA motor does not brake?
    • V
      Vincent WestSep 12, 2025
If the motor does not brake, the brake lining might be worn out. Replace the complete brake lining carrier. The manual brake release device might be incorrectly adjusted, so set the adjusting nuts to the correct setting. Also, check if the manual brake release device is locked and release the locking mechanism, removing the lever. Finally, the brake torque might be incorrect, so change the brake torque.

Why DEMAG ZBA hums and has high power consumption?
    • S
      stephen60Sep 13, 2025
If the motor hums and has high power consumption, it indicates that the winding is defective. The motor must be sent to a specialist workshop for repair.
