General Warnings and Safety

Overview

The Demon Electric 6IX is an electric bicycle designed for personal transportation, offering pedal-assist functionality and a range of features for an enhanced riding experience. This manual provides essential information for assembly, operation, and basic maintenance of the 6IX e-bike.

Function Description:

The 6IX is an electric bicycle that assists the rider with a motor, making it easier to pedal and achieve higher speeds or cover longer distances with less effort. It is equipped with an LCD meter that monitors various riding parameters, including pedal assist level, speed, odometer, trip distance, riding time, and battery energy level. The bike is designed for general use, but users should be aware of local laws regarding high-speed electric bicycles on bike paths or trails.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Battery: Lithium-ion battery. The initial charge typically takes between 48 to 72 hours. A full charge from depletion takes 3-4 hours. The battery arrives with a 70% charge and should be fully charged before the first use. It requires a specially designed charger and should not be charged with a substitute charger.
  • Display: High-contrast 3.2-inch IPS colorful matrix screen.
  • Speed Display Modes: AVG SPEED, MAX SPEED, SPEED (Real-time).
  • Mileage Indicator: Odometer, Trip distance, Clock, Riding time.
  • Power Indicator: Real-time power indicator (digital or analog).
  • Assist Levels: 3-level, 5-level, or 9-level optional pedal assist.
  • Temperature Suitability: Max -20 °C.
  • USB Charging Port: 5V/500mA.
  • Warranty: 2-year warranty on new E-Bike purchases, requiring registration of the warranty card.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The bike comes pre-assembled and requires a few simple steps to get it ready for use, including installing the kickstand, headlight and fender, front wheel, handlebars, pedals, seat, and connecting electrical connectors.
  • Power On/Off: Press and hold the Power button for 1 second to turn the display on or off. The display can automatically shut down after a set period of inactivity (0-9 minutes). If a password is set, it must be entered before starting.
  • Assist Level Adjustment: Short press the UP/DOWN buttons to change the pedal assist level. Level 9 is the top assist level, and 0 is neutral.
  • Speed & Mileage Mode Switch: Short press the POWER button to cycle through speed and mileage modes: TRIP > ODO > RANGE > TRIP > TIME > MAX SPEED > AVG SPEED. The display automatically returns to Real-Time Speed display after 5 seconds of no operation.
  • Headlight Control: Press and hold the UP button for 1 second to turn the headlight on/off. The screen will switch to the corresponding mode. The headlight can remain on for a while even if the motor is off due to low battery.
  • Walking Mode (6 KM): Press and hold the DOWN button for 2 seconds to enter walking mode. Releasing the button exits this mode. This feature requires controller support.
  • Data Cleanup: Press and hold the UP & DOWN buttons together for 1 second to reset temporary data such as AVG Speed, MAX Speed, Trip, and Time. This data cannot be erased by powering off the device.
  • Parameter Setting: Double press the POWER button (interval less than 0.3 seconds) to enter the setting menus. Use UP/DOWN buttons to change settings and the POWER button to switch to the next item. Double pressing POWER again exits the menu. The display automatically quits the menu after 30 seconds of inactivity and cannot be accessed while riding for safety reasons.
  • System Settings: Switch between Metric and Imperial units for measurements.
  • Brightness Adjustment: Adjust the backlight brightness using the UP/DOWN buttons.
  • Auto Power Off Time: Set the auto power off time from 1 to 9 minutes (default is 5 minutes).
  • Scenes: Change display scenes between Digital and Analog (default).
  • Battery Indicator: Choose to display battery information as Voltage, Percentage, or OFF. Accurate percentage display requires communication with the battery.
  • Power Indicator: Change the power indicator display between Power and Current. This data represents the power output of the battery, not the motor.
  • Clock Setting: Set the Year, Month, Day, Hour, Minute, and Second.
  • Start Password: Set a password for powering on the bike. If enabled, the correct password must be entered within 30 seconds of power-on, or the display will automatically power off.
  • Information Display: View information about the E-bike, including speed, mileage, product info, battery info, and self-testing results.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Charging: Recharge the battery after every use to maintain its health. For extended storage, charge fully and recharge every 2 months.
  • Battery Care: Keep liquids away from the battery charger. Only use the charger supplied with the 6IX. Fully charge the battery before each use to extend its life and prevent over-discharging. Avoid placing the battery near fire or corrosive substances. Ensure the charging socket and plug are dry and tightly connected to prevent overheating and fire hazards. Charge the battery indoors with sufficient ventilation.
  • Brake Check: Before every ride, check the operation of the brake inhibitor switches. The motor should lose power immediately when a brake lever is depressed.
  • Component Inspection: Regularly inspect mechanical components for wear and stress fatigue. Look for cracks, scratches, fraying, or discoloration in highly stressed areas, as these indicate that the component's life has been reached and it should be replaced.
  • Error Code Definition: The 850C display shows warning messages and error codes (01-25) at the bottom of the screen. The manual provides a table defining these codes and suggesting corresponding actions (e.g., check cable connection, check controller, check brake connection). For undefined errors (26-99), contact the manufacturer.
  • Factory Reset: The display allows restoring all parameters to factory settings through the "Restore Factory settings" item in the menu.
  • Professional Assistance: The manual emphasizes that it is not a detailed user, service, repair, or maintenance manual. Users should seek assistance from a qualified technician for service, repairs, or maintenance.
  • Electrical Parts: Users are warned not to disassemble, modify, or replace electrical parts.
