The Digitsole Warm Series are connected insoles designed to provide warmth to the user's feet while also analyzing physical activity. These insoles are the first of their kind to offer both heating and activity tracking functionalities.
The primary function of the Digitsole Warm Series insoles is to provide adjustable heating for the user's feet. This is achieved through integrated heating elements within the insoles, controlled via a dedicated smartphone application. In addition to heating, the insoles are capable of analyzing physical activity, tracking metrics such as steps, distance, and calories burned. The insoles are programmed with a "standby mode" to conserve battery life; if not connected to a phone and no movement is detected for five minutes, they enter this mode. A simple shake will wake them up.
To begin using the Digitsole Warm Series insoles, users must first fully charge them. Charging is done by connecting the insoles to a USB power supply or a computer's USB port using the provided Micro USB 2.0 cable. Each insole has a protective cap that needs to be opened to access the charging port. An LED on the module indicates charging status (red when charging) and turns off when the battery is 100% charged. A full charge typically takes about two and a half hours, providing up to 8 hours of use, though discharge time varies based on heating settings and footwear.
After charging, users need to download the dedicated "Warm Series" application, available for both iOS (minimum iOS 9.0) and Android (minimum Android 5.0). The app can be found by searching "Warm Series" on the App Store® or Play Store®. Once installed, users must activate Bluetooth and location tracking on their smartphone, then launch the app and create an account. Account creation involves registering personal information such as name, gender, date of birth, measurements, email address, and a chosen password. Users must also read and accept the Privacy Policy.
Connecting the insoles to the app involves selecting the insole type (V4/V5 or V6/V7). For V6/V7 insoles, a QR code scan simplifies the connection process. For V4/V5 insoles, users need to plug them in, click "next" in the app, unplug them, and then click "connect."
Once connected, users can adjust the temperature of their insoles through the app. By clicking "ON," the heating function is activated. The temperature can then be set within a range of 25 °C to 45 °C using a slider. The heating can be stopped by clicking "STOP." The remaining battery life for each insole is displayed at the bottom of the screen. For V7 insoles, a timer function allows users to activate and deactivate heating for a set duration, after which the insoles will stop heating automatically.
The app also enables users to track their physical activity. To start a new walking activity, the insoles must be linked to the app. Clicking "GO" initiates a new session, and clicking "STOP" ends it, providing session statistics such as duration, distance, steps, and calories burned. If the insoles disconnect from the phone during an activity, the analysis continues, and they automatically reconnect when "STOP" is pressed.
The application includes several settings for personalization. The "My profile" section allows users to add a profile photo, adjust their height, weight, and shoe size. The "My insoles" section enables users to delete their current insoles if they wish to replace them with a new pair. Under "Units," users can choose between Imperial or Metric units for measurements and Celsius or Fahrenheit for temperature. The "Languages" section allows changing the app's language. The "Version" section provides information about the insoles and the user's phone. Users can also access the "Terms of Use and Privacy Policy" and "Contact us" sections for support.
The insoles can be adjusted to fit shoe size by cutting along dotted lines on the underside. However, care must be taken not to cut beyond these lines to avoid damaging electrical components and voiding the warranty.
For cleaning, it is recommended to use chemical-free wet wipes on the outside of the insoles, taking care to prevent moisture from entering the USB ports. The insoles should never be put in a washing machine.
Proper storage is crucial for the longevity of the insoles. They should not be exposed to direct sunlight, excessive heat, or fire, and should be stored away from damp areas like basements or bathrooms. It is recommended to store the insoles with approximately 30-50% charge. To prevent complete discharge, which can damage the batteries, the insoles should be charged about once every six months. The recommended storage temperature is -20 °C to 45 °C for less than one year, and -20 °C to 40 °C for less than three months.
Users should not attempt to remove or replace the built-in batteries, dismantle the insoles, bring them into contact with fire, submerge them in liquid, or use them if the batteries are damaged. The insoles have an IPX6 protection class, meaning they are water-resistant.
For end-of-life, lithium-ion batteries are subject to recycling regulations. Users should check local regulations and utilize collection and recycling systems for waste electrical and electronic equipment, such as dropping them off at a local special waste collection center or electronic waste container.
