Important Safety Advice
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions
should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire,
electrical shock, and injury to persons, including the
following:
IMPORTANT – If the heater is installed in a room
containing a bath or shower, it must be so installed that
switches and other controls cannot be touched by a
person using a bath or shower.
WARNING - DO NOT USE THIS HEATER IN THE IMMEDIATE
SURROUNDINGS OF A BATH, A SHOWER OR A SWIMMING
POOL.
Do not use outdoors.
Do not locate the heater immediately below a fixed socket
outlet or connection box.
Do not cover the heater. NEVER cover or obstruct in any
way the heat outlet slots at the top of the heater or the
air inlet slots in the base of the heater. Do not place
material or garments on the heater, or obstruct the air
circulation around the heater, for instance by curtains
or pushing furniture up against the heater, as this could
cause overheating and a fire risk.
The heater carries the Warning symbol indicating
that it must not be covered.
WARNING – THE SURFACES OF THIS HEATER CAN BE HOT.
Momentary contact with any part of the heater should
not cause injury. However, aged or infirm persons or
young children should not be left unsupervised in the
vicinity of the heater unless a suitable guard is fitted.
This appliance is not intended for use by children or
other persons without assistance or supervision if their
physical, sensory or mental capabilities prevent them
from using it safely. Children should be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Note that due care and consideration must be taken
when using this heater in series with a thermal control,
a program controller, a timer or any other device that
switches on the heat automatically, since a fire risk
exists when the heater is accidentally covered or
displaced.
If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or service agent or a similarly qualified
person in order to avoid a hazard.
WARNING: Servicing & product repairs should only be
undertaken by the manufacturers approved service
agent or a similarly qualified person, using only exact
manufacturer approved spare parts.

The electrical installation must be carried out by a competent
electrician, and be in strict accordance with the current I.E.E.
regulations for Electrical Equipment in Buildings.
The heater is fitted with a length of flexible cable type H05VV-
F size 3 x 1.0mm

on models PLX 500 - 2000 and size 3 x
1.5mm

on PLX 3000 models, for connection to the fixed
wiring of the premises through a suitable connection box
positioned adjacent to the heater.
The supply circuit to the heater must incorporate a double
pole isolating switch having a contact separation of at least
3mm.
Supplementary Earth Bonding
Should Equipotential Earth Bonding be required the earthing
conductor in the supply cord is deemed to provide the
supplementary bonding connection (see Regulation 544.2.5,

Edition I.E.E. Wiring Regulations).
General
NOTE: The PLX Convector is designed for wall mounting on
the wall brackets supplied. The wall brackets supplied with
the appliance must be used. It should only be operated when
in the upright position as shown.
All models are splashproof to IP24 standard.
Models PLX…TI are fitted with a 24 hour programmable
timer.
Models PLX…TX are fitted with a 7 Day programmable timer.
Models PLX…NC are fitted with no controls, for use with
external thermostatic or programming controllers.
Before connecting the heater check that the supply voltage is
the same as that stated on the heater.
Please note that lit cigarettes, candles and oil burners,
combined with the convection effect of electric heaters
can cause soot deposits to build up on the surface directly
above and to the sides of the heater. This is not the fault of
the heater. Extensive burning of candles or smoking in the
operating environment of this product can produce heavy
discoloration within a few months of use.

The heater is intended for indoor use and must be installed in an upright position using the provided wall brackets.

Function Description

The primary function of the Dimplex PLX Panel Convector Heater is to provide warmth to a room. Depending on the model, it offers different control options to manage heat output and temperature.

• Thermostat-only models (PLX...NC): These models are designed for use with external thermostatic or programming controllers. They do not feature integrated controls for temperature or output, relying entirely on an external system to regulate their operation. This allows for centralized control in larger installations or integration into smart home systems.
• Models with 24-hour programmable timer (PLX...TI): These heaters incorporate a 24-hour programmable timer, allowing users to set specific "ON" and "OFF" periods throughout the day. The timer dial, marked with segments, enables customization of the heating schedule. Each segment represents a 20-minute interval, offering flexibility to match heating to daily routines. The heater operates under the control of a thermostat during the set "ON" periods. A slide switch on the timer unit also controls the electricity supply to the heating elements, offering "half heat" and "full heat" options to adjust the output.
• Models with 7-day programmable timer (PLX...TX): Similar to the 24-hour timer models, these heaters feature a more advanced 7-day programmable timer. This allows for different heating schedules to be set for each day of the week, providing greater flexibility for varying weekly routines. Each segment on the 7-day timer represents a 1.75-hour period. Like the 24-hour timer models, they also include a slide switch for "half heat" and "full heat" output control.
• All models with integrated controls: These models are equipped with an adjustable thermostat that allows users to set the desired room temperature. The thermostat knob typically ranges from a frost protection setting (approximately 5°C) to a maximum setting (approximately 30°C). A neon indicator light illuminates when the heater is actively generating heat. The heater will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.

The Dimplex PLX Panel Convector Heater is designed for user-friendly operation with several features to enhance convenience and safety.

• Wall Mounting: The heater is specifically designed for wall mounting. Installation involves removing the wall mounting bracket from the back of the heater, securing it to the wall, and then engaging the heater onto the bracket. This ensures a stable and secure installation. Minimum clearances around the heater, as specified in the manual, must be observed to ensure proper air circulation and prevent overheating.

Users can switch the timer to a continuous "ON" position for constant heating under thermostat control, or to an "OFF" position where the timer operates but no heat is produced. The programmed schedule can be reinstated by switching back to the automatic setting.
