The Dometic Portable Toilet, available in models 972 and 976, is designed for mobile use, offering a convenient and hygienic sanitation solution. This portable toilet is equipped with several features to ensure ease of use, efficient flushing, and simplified waste disposal.
The core function of the Dometic Portable Toilet is to provide a self-contained toilet system for situations where traditional plumbing is unavailable. It consists of two main sections: a flush water tank and a holding tank. Flushing is achieved through a manual pump mechanism, which, with a few pumping actions, delivers water from the flush water tank into the bowl. The waste then passes into the sealed holding tank below. The design incorporates overflow protection and a filling level display to prevent overfilling and indicate when the holding tank needs to be emptied.
Setting up the portable toilet involves a few simple steps. Before initial use or after transport, it's crucial to equalize the pressure in the holding tank. This is done by opening and closing the slide valve with the seat cover closed, using the flush grip. The flush water tank is filled by removing its cap and pouring water until it reaches approximately 25 mm (1 inch) below the top, then the cap is securely screwed back on. An appropriate sanitary additive is then placed directly into the holding tank after opening the slide valve with the flush grip. It's important never to add the additive when the slide valve is closed. After closing the slide valve, the pump should be pressed about 15 times, or until air escapes from the pressure relief valve on the flush water tank, to ensure proper pressurization. Care must be taken not to over-pressurize the flush water tank, for instance, by covering the pressure relief valve, and the flush water tank should not be pressurized when separated from the holding tank.
For flushing, the flush grip is pulled out to open the slide valve, allowing waste to pass into the holding tank. The flush button is then pressed to activate the flush. After flushing, the flush grip is pushed back in to close the slide valve, sealing the holding tank.
Emptying the holding tank is a straightforward process. When the filling level display indicates "Full," the tank needs to be emptied. If the toilet is secured with optional fastening holders, the locking grip on the holding tank must be pulled to release it. The toilet may need to be lifted and moved to access the rear bracket. The flush water tank is disconnected from the holding tank by pulling up the rear latch. The holding tank can then be taken to an approved disposal station or a normal toilet for emptying. To empty, the waste pipe is turned away from the tank, and the pressure relief valve on top of the tank is opened. The tank is then emptied, and if a water connection is available, the holding tank can be flushed out. It is critical for environmental protection that the holding tank is never emptied directly into the environment.
For long-term storage, both the holding tank and flush water tank should be completely emptied. The portable toilet should then be stored in a dry, clean condition.
Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for the longevity and hygiene of the Dometic Portable Toilet. The product should be cleaned regularly with a wet cloth and a mild detergent. It is important to avoid using sharp or hard objects, or petroleum-based cleaning agents, as these can damage the product's surfaces and components. The manufacturer emphasizes that any alterations or conversions to the device should not be made, and it should only be used as intended to ensure its proper function and to avoid material damage.
