Overview

The Dream On Me Portable Crib, model 685, is a versatile and compact crib designed for infants, offering a safe and adaptable sleeping environment. This crib is manufactured in May 2020 and is made in China. It is designed to conform to applicable regulations promulgated by the Consumer Products Safety Commission, ensuring a secure and reliable product for your child.

Function Description:

The primary function of this portable crib is to provide a secure and comfortable sleeping space for infants. Its design allows for easy assembly, disassembly, and folding, making it ideal for families who need a crib that can be moved or stored conveniently. The crib features an adjustable mattress support, allowing parents to customize the mattress height to suit their child's developmental stage and their own convenience. This adjustability is crucial for ensuring safety as the child grows, preventing them from climbing out of the crib. The inclusion of castors, two of which have brakes, enhances its portability, allowing it to be easily moved from room to room while also providing stability when stationary.

Usage Features:

The Dream On Me Portable Crib is designed with several user-friendly features to enhance its functionality and ease of use.

  • Assembly: The assembly process is straightforward, beginning with attaching the latches and plastic blocks to the headboards using screws. This is followed by connecting the rails and stabilizer bar to the headboards with screws, nuts, wood dowels, and washers. The instructions emphasize not fully tightening the bolts until all connections are made, ensuring proper alignment. The metal pins on the headboard side corner posts are designed to slot into notches, allowing for vertical movement to adjust the mattress height. Castors are then attached to the leg bottoms, with the two braked castors positioned at the front for easy access and stability. Finally, the mattress is placed inside the crib.
  • Adjustable Mattress Support: A key feature is the adjustable mattress base. Parents can select one of two height levels for the mattress support. To adjust, both hands are used to lift the mattress base, and it is then adjusted to the desired height. A bolt underneath the mattress board is then slid into place to keep the support fixed at the chosen level. This feature is essential for adapting the crib to the child's growth, allowing for a higher position for newborns and a lower position once the child can pull themselves to a standing position.
  • Portability and Folding: The crib is designed for easy portability. To fold the crib, the mattress and mattress board are first removed. The latches on the headboard are then unlocked, allowing the crib to be folded. This compact folding mechanism makes it convenient for storage or transport.
  • Secure Mattress Board: The mattress board can be secured to the front rail. This involves pushing a handle to the left to release the mattress board, and then snapping the handle to secure it. This ensures the mattress board remains stable during use.
  • Safety Components: The crib includes various components designed for safety and stability, such as Allen head bolts, barrel nuts, an Allen wrench, wood dowels, castors (with and without brakes), latches, screws, and plastic blocks. These components work together to ensure the crib is securely assembled and stable.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance is crucial for ensuring the continued safety and longevity of the Dream On Me Portable Crib.

  • Regular Checks: It is imperative to periodically check all screws and nuts to ensure they remain tight. Before each use, all screws should be rechecked to confirm they are securely fastened. This prevents loosening that could compromise the crib's structural integrity.
  • Inspection for Damage: Users are advised to discontinue use of the product if any fasteners are loose or missing, if there are loose joints, broken parts, or torn mesh/fabric. Regular inspection for such damage is critical.
  • Replacement Parts: In case of damage or missing parts, users should contact Dream On Me for replacement parts and instructional literature. It is explicitly stated that only original replacement parts should be used, and parts should never be substituted.
  • Teething Rail Maintenance: If the teething rail becomes damaged, cracked, or loose, it should be replaced immediately to prevent injury to the child.
  • Cleaning: While not explicitly detailed in the provided text, general crib maintenance typically involves regular cleaning with mild soap and water. If refinishing is ever considered, only non-toxic finishes specified for children's products should be used.
  • Discontinuation of Use: The product should be discontinued when the child is able to climb out or reaches a height of 35 inches (890mm). This ensures the child's safety as they grow beyond the crib's intended use.
  • Warning Sticker: The warning sticker placed on the crib is a requirement by law under CPSC and ASTM, serving to inform parents and caregivers about essential safety guidelines. This sticker should not be removed.

The Dream On Me Portable Crib is designed with both convenience and safety in mind, providing a reliable and adaptable sleeping solution for infants. Adhering to the assembly instructions, usage guidelines, and maintenance recommendations will ensure the crib remains a safe environment for your child.
