Setting the Stylus Pressure
Each cartridge has an optimum stylus pres
sure, See instructions supplied with your
cartridge.
Too low a stylus pressure will cause distor
tion in loud passages. If, however, the stylus
force is too high, the stylus and record
may both be damaged, Tonearm balance
should be checked, therefore, before the
tracking farce is applied.
Once the tonearm is balanced, the stylus
pressure is set W the recommended value
for the cartridge by turning the stylus force
scale (9). The stylus pressure can be set to
any value trom O— 30 mN (0-3 g) whereby
the figures on the scale are 10 be interpreted
as follows
