inertia-free
peak
indicator
makes
optimum
recordings
possible.
The
switch
(19)
can
be
used
to
turn
off
the
LED
light
bands.
A
recording
has
the
optimum
level
when
the
loudest
passages
of
the
recording
cause
the
lights
to
turn
on
just
up
to
the
0
dB
point
(start
of
the
red
range).
Occasional
flickering
of
a
red
light
does
not
mean
that
recording
quality
is
being
impaired.
If
the
recording
level
has
been
set
too
low,
the
full
dynamic
range
of
the
tape
is
not
being
utilized.
Overloading,
on
the
other
hand,
can
produce
audible
distortion.
Copying
from
Records
There
are
two
ways
in
which
the
turntable
can
be
connected
to
the
unit
1.
Connect
both
the
turntable
and
cassette
deck
to
stereo
am-
plifier
or
receiver
and
switch
the
program
selector
switch
of
the
receiver
(amplifier)
to
PHONO
2.
To
connect
the
turntable
directly
to
the
cassette
deck
proceed
as
follows:
Plug
an
adapter
cord
(Part
No.226818)
into
the
DIN
REC/PB
jack
and
connect
it
to
the
turntable.
For
a
player
with
a
piezo
electric
(ceramic
or
crystal)
cartridge
this
is
all
that
is
required.
For
a
turntable
with
a
magnetic
or
dynamic
cartrid-
ge
a
preamplifier
is
required
such
as
Dual
TVV
47
Recording
Broadcasts
If
the
cassette
deck
and
a
tuner/receiver
are
connected
to
a
HiFi
amplifier,
you
can
record
audio
programs
without
changing
of
the
cable
connections.
If
you
should
wish
to
connect
a
tuner
or
radio
directly
to
the
cassette
deck,
this
can
be
done
by
way
of
the
"DIN
REC/PB"
jack
using
the
adapter
cord
(Dual
Part
No.
226
818).
Recording
from
Another
Recorder
If
you
wish
to
record
on
your
cassette
deck
from
another
tape
recorder
or
cassette
recorder,
plug
the
adapter
cord
(Part.No.
226
818)
in
the
DIN
REC/BP
socket
of
your
cassette
deck
and
connect
the
other
end
of
the
adapter
to
the
tape
recorder
or
cassette
recorder,
merely
connect
the
adapter
cord
to
the
appropriate
socket.
Microphone
recordings
The
HiFi
stereo
cassette
deck
is
fitted
with
a
1/4"
coaxial
jack
for
low and
medium
impedance
microphones
of
the
200
1000
Ohm
range.
We
recommend
the
HiFi
Electret
capacitor
microphones
Dual
MC
304,
Dual
MC
314
and
Dual
MC
316
For
stereo
recordings,
a
single
stereo
microphone
or
two
mono
microphones
of
the
same
type
should
be
used.
Should
only
a
single
mono
microphone
be
connected,
the
signal
can
neverthe-
less
be
applied
to
both
channels.
The
level
is
controlled
by
the
INPUT
MIC
control
(27).
It
makes
no
difference
whether
the
microphone
is
connected
to
the
left
or
right
input
jack
Erasing
During
each
recording
the
cassette
is
erased
in
the
direction
which
is
being
recorded.
Should
you
want
to
erase
a
recording
without
making
a
new
one,
play
the
cassette
through
with
the
controls
set
for
“recording’’
but
with
all
level
controls
set
to
#0”.
All
compact
cassettes
have
two
slots
on
the
rear
edge
which
are
partially
covered
with
plastic
tabs.
You
can
prevent
acciden-
tal
erasure
of
your
own
recordings
by
breaking
out
the
appro-
priate
tab.
The
left
hand
tab
protects
the
recording
which
was
made
in
the
right
direction
(
»
(14)),
the
right
hand
tab
protscts
the
recording
made
in
the
left
hand
direction
La
(11)).
Pre-recorded
tapes
are
usually
already
protected
against
ac-
cidental
erasure
by
removal
of
the
tabs.
If
you
wish
to
record
on
a
tape,
protected
in
this
way,
it
is
only
necessary
to
close
the
slots
temporarily
by
means
of
an
adhesive
tape.
Please
note
that
the
additional
slots
present
in
CrO2
tapes
must
not
be
closed
by
adhesive
tape
since
they
are
used
to
drive
decks
having
automatic
Cr02
recognition
FADE
EDIT
The
FADE
EDIT
feature
(33)
allows
for
a
subsequent
“soft”
fade-in
and
fade-out
of
recordings
in
both
directions.
In
this
way,
you
can
“iron
out”
popping
and
crackling
noises
at
the
beginning
or
end
of
a
tape
recording
made
from
a
record
as
well
as
decently
pushing
the
obtrusive
disc
jockey
into
the
background
when
recording
a
pop
program.
Since
fading
is
carried
out
during
playback,
you
can
control
everything
using
your
headphones.
First
find
the
position
you
want
corrected,
spool
the
tape
back
somewhat,
start
the
tape
in
playback
in
the
direction
of
the
area
to
be
changed,
press
the
upper
FADE
EDIT
key
down
and
the
lower
one
in.
You
will
now
hear
a
short
(dependent
upon
the
type
of tape)
pause
the
fade-out.
As
long
as
both
buttons
remain
pressed,
the
tape
will
be
com-
pletely
erased.
Once
you
release
the
lower
button,
the
recording
will
be
faded-in
“'softly”.
If
you
only
desire
to
fade-in,
spool
the
tape
back
to
just
before
the
fade-in
position,
press
the
start
and
PAUSE
keys.
Now
press
both
FADE
EDIT
buttons
for
several
seconds,
press
the
PAUSE
button
once
again,
so
that
the
tape
is
restarted,
and
release
the
lower
FADE
EDIT
button.
After
a
short
pause
the
fade-in
will
begin.
The
FADE
EDIT
feature
offers
the
tape user
several
interesting
possibilities.
The
time
required
for
fade-in
and
fade-out
is,
ho-
wever,
influenced
by
the
type
of
tape
used.
You
should
thus
practice
a
bit
with each
type
of
tape
so
that
you
don't
endanger
one
of
your
favorite
recordings
during
the
first
try.
Remote
control
of
the
cassette
deck
The
cassette
deck
can
be
remotely
controlled
with
the
aid
of
the
infrared
transmitter
units
RC
152
and
RC
154.
Either
the
receiver
integrated
into
the
amplifier
or
the
separate
infrared
receiver
RE
120
serves
to
receive
the
remote
control
signals.
The
cassette
deck
is
connected
to
the
CV
1500
RC
amplifier
or
the
infrared
receiver
RE
120
via
the
REMOTE
CONTROL
jacks
on
the
rear
and
the
enclosed
single
wire
cynch
lead
The
functions
4,
»,
<4,
pp,
PAUSE
and
STOP
can
be
re-
motely
controlled.
By
means
of
the
timer
circuitry
of
the
CT
1540
RC
tuner,
a
radio
recording
can
be
started
and
terminated
at
any
preselctable
time
with
the
cassette
deck.
As
described,
the
cassette
deck
is
prepared
for
recording
and
the
PAUSE
button
is
pressed.
The
control
command
from
the
tuner
automatically
releases
the
PAUSE
button
and
the
recording
is
started.
At
the
end
of
the
radio
transmission
programmed
with
the
TIMER
circuitry,
re-
cording
at
the
cassette
deck
is
automatically
interrupted
by
the
PAUSE
button
being
operated
once
again.
Technical
data
-
Drive
All
tape
drive
functions
are
controlled
and
monitored
by
spe-
cially
developed
microprocessors.
The
control
orders
are
entered
on
the
practically
resistance-free
buttons
as
electrical
impulses
through
the
control
logic
to
the
electro/mechanical
converter,
where
they
are
converted
to
mechanical
functions.
The
tape
drive
and
take-up
are
done
by
specially
developed
non-ferrous
precision
DC
motors.
Two
capstans
drive
the
tape
in
each
direction
in
closed-loop
operation.
This
operation
guarantees
ex-
cellent
wow
and
flutter
characteristics
even
after
long
use.
The
cap-
stan
speed
is
controlled
by
a
frequency
generator
so
that
all
mem-
bers
of
the
drive
group
are
contained
in
the
control
loop.
In
this
way,
long-term
changes
in
the
drive
belt
will
also
be
compensated.
Electronics
The
most
modern
electronics,
including
some
specially
developed
modules,
such
as
microprocessors
and
|C's
etc.
not
only
allow
a
large
number
of
operating
features
but
also
guarantee
trouble-
free
operation.
Since
electronic
components
do
not
wear,
this
means
high
quality
operation
for
years
to
come
Heads
The
4/4
track
SENDUST
head
offers
exceptional
magnetic
characteristics
as
already
known
from
hard
Permalloy
heads
for
recording
and
playback
together
with
an
excep-
tional
resistance
to
wear.
Thedouble
track
erase
head
guarantees
complete
erasure
even
of
pure
iron
(metafine)
tapes
which
are
particularly
critical
in
this
respect.
Compact
cassette
system
Your
HiFi
stereo
cassette
deck
uses
a
4/4
track
format.
Four
tracks
are
provided
across
the
full
width
of
the
tape
so
that
two
stereo
tracks
are
available
in
each
direction
of
play
and
thus
the
tape
length
used
for
stereo
playing
is
doubled.
Casset-
tes
recorded
in
stereo
on
your
cassette
deck
can
also
be
played
on
mono
cassette
recorders.
That
is
to
say,
stereo
cassettes
are
fully
compatible
with
mono
cassettes.
