Preparing the Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S for use:
The Dupla CO
2
-Reaktor S's high capacity promotes rapid
diffusion of large volumes of CO
2
into aquarium water, which is why we recommend that the Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S be installed
on a separate pump circuit. The important things here are that the Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S's inlet be connected to the pump's outlet
and that the entire circuit be free of leaks. Before installing and operating the unit, you should thus verily that the O-ring seals
on the screw-on caps sealing the regulator fittings on the reactor's housing are correctly seated and that the caps have been
securely lightened.
Installing and Operating the Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S Inside an Aquarium:
1. Connect the pump's outlet to the fitting on the water inlet on the Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S's
housing using a length of 9 mm i.d. flexible tubing.
2. Clamp the tubing onto the fitting using the threaded collar (Figure 1).
3. Connect the low-pressure outlet (max pressure 1.5 bar) on your CO
2
supply system to the fitting on the CO
2
-inlet on the
Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S's housing using a length of 3-mm i.d. flexible tubing (Figure 2)
4. Attach the Dupla CO
2
-Reaktor S to the inner wall of your aquarium using the pair of Duplakon suction cups provided.
5. The Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S is now ready for use.
6. Switch on the pump.
7. Gradually open the regulator valve on the CO
2
-supply line. Note: We recommend inserting a Dupla CO
2
, bubble counter into
the supply line in order to allow monitoring CO
2
flow rate.
Installing and Operating the Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S Outside an Aquarium:
1. Mount the wall bracket at the location provided in the cabinet beneath your aquarium.
2. Connect the Pump's outlet to the fitting on the water inlet on the Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S's housing using a length
of 9 mm i.d. flexible tubing.
3. Clamp the tubing onto the fitting using the threaded collar (Figure 1).
4. Connect the low-pressure (max. pressure 1.5 bar) outlet on your CO
2
supply system to the fitting on the CO
2
-inlet on the
Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S's housing using a length of 3-mm i.d. flexible tubing (Figure 2).
5 Push one end of a length of 9-mm i.d. flexible tubing onto the fitting on the water outlet on the Dupla CO
2
-Reaktor S's housing
and insert its other end into the aquarium (Figure 3).
6. Clamp the tubing onto the fitting using the threaded collar
7. Clamp the Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S onto the wall bracket.
8. The Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S is now ready for use.
9. Switch on the pump.
10. If there should be any air present in the system, remove the Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S from the wall bracket, rotate it through
180° C, hold it in this position until all of the air has been expelled from the system, and then clamp it back
onto the wall bracket.
11. Gradually open the regulator valve on the CO
2
supply line. Note: We recommend inserting a Dupla CO
2
bubble counter into
the supply line in order to allow monitoring CO
2
flow rate.
Selecting CO
2
Diffusion Rate:
The CO
2
diffusion rate is user selectable, and is selected by puncturing the diaphragm of one of the regulator fittings using the
pin provided (ct. Figure 4). The resultant CO
2
diffusion rate increases from the top regulator fitting, which yields the lowest rate,
to the bottom regulator fitting, which yields the highest rate. If the Dupla CO
2
Reaktor S is to be operated outside the aquarium,
you will have to connect the regulator fitting whose diaphragm has been punctured to the aquarium using a length
of 3-mm i.d. flexible tubing. Any unused regulator fittings with punctured diaphragms should be seated using the screw on
caps provided ( Figure 5).
