Why won't my Dura Heat Gas Heater light?
    • M
      Misty BowersJul 26, 2025
Your Dura Heat Gas Heater might not light due to several reasons: the fuel tank could be empty (fill it with water-clear 1-K kerosene), there might be water in the kerosene (drain the tank, replace the wick, and refill with clean kerosene), the igniter plug may not be glowing (replace the batteries, replace the igniter plug, and check for broken wires), or the igniter plug is touching the side of the wick (lower the wick until the igniter plug contacts the top).

How to stop my Dura Heat DH2304 Gas Heater from producing smoke or odor?
    • M
      Matthew CollinsJul 30, 2025
If your Dura Heat Gas Heater is producing smoke or odor, it could be due to several reasons. The flame might be too high (lower the wick to a 1/2” flame using the wick adjuster knob). The heater could be in an air draft (move it out of the draft). The burner might not be level (rotate the burner until it seats properly over the wick). There might be carbon or tar buildup on the wick (perform the "Carbon Removal / Dry Burning" procedure, replacing the wick if necessary). Finally, the kerosene could be contaminated (drain the tank, replace the wick, and refill with water-clear 1-K kerosene).

Why is the wick on my Dura Heat Gas Heater burning down excessively?
    • J
      justinolsonAug 7, 2025
If the wick on your Dura Heat Gas Heater is burning down excessively, it's likely due to dangerous, volatile fuel mixed with the kerosene, such as gasoline, benzene, alcohol, white gas, paint thinner, camp stove fuel, or oil compound. You should drain and clean the tank, remove and replace the wick, and fill the tank with water-clear 1-K kerosene.
