What to do if my Duraflame Electric Heater remote control is not working?
    • Q
      qlarsenAug 13, 2025
First, change the remote batteries. If that doesn't work, operate the remote at a distance less than 20 feet from the front of the appliance, pointing it at the control panel, and press the buttons with a slow, even motion and gentle pressure, as rapidly pressing buttons may cause a malfunction.

Why is my Duraflame 5HM8000 taking a long time to reach desired room temperature?
    • M
      Mr. Charles RyanAug 20, 2025
This Duraflame Electric Heater is designed to be used as supplemental heating, in conjunction with a primary heat source. Ensure the heater is in a room with proper insulation and remember it heats UP TO 1000 square feet. Also, the back and sides of the heater should be 3 - 6 inches away from the walls for proper air intake, and the unit should be plugged directly into the wall outlet, not a surge protector or extension cord.

      sandra78Aug 31, 2025
This can happen if the thermostat sensor is broken or disconnected, or if the power cord overheating protection has activated. Unplug the heater, remove the back panel, and check that the thermostat is plugged into the main circuit board. If this doesn't solve the problem, or if the thermostat sensor is broken, contact customer service for a replacement thermostat sensor. Also, check your heater cord and plug connections. Faulty wall outlet connections or loose plugs can cause overheating. Ensure the plug fits tightly in the outlet and check frequently to determine if your plug outlet or faceplate is hot. If so, discontinue use and have a qualified electrician check and/or replace the faulty outlets.
