Function Description

The Dyson Ball DC25 is a bagless upright vacuum cleaner engineered for efficient dirt and debris collection. Its core function is to provide powerful suction for both carpets and hard floors, utilizing Dyson's patented cyclone technology to separate dirt and dust from the airflow, preventing loss of suction. The "Ball" technology allows for easy maneuverability around furniture and obstacles, enhancing the user's ability to clean tight spaces and navigate complex room layouts. The vacuum is equipped with a brushbar that can be switched on for carpets to agitate dirt or turned off for delicate hard floors to prevent scratching. It also features a high-reach cleaning capability, allowing users to extend the wand and hose for cleaning elevated surfaces, stairs, or difficult-to-reach areas. The clear bin™ design provides visual confirmation of dirt collection and indicates when emptying is required.

Usage Features

Operating the Dyson Ball DC25 is designed to be straightforward. To begin, the vacuum cleaner head is attached by sliding it on until it clicks, and the wand is secured in place. To use the vacuum, the user presses a foot pedal to recline the handle, which automatically lifts the stabilizer stand. The power button, located on the front of the handle, is then depressed to switch the vacuum "ON." After cleaning, the vacuum is pushed into an upright position, causing the stabilizer wheels to automatically drop, allowing for easy storage. The carrying handle, situated above the clear bin™, facilitates transport.

For different floor types, the brushbar can be adjusted. It defaults to "ON" (spinning) when the vacuum is switched on and reclined for cleaning. To switch the brushbar "OFF" for hard floors, the user reclines the vacuum, turns it "ON," and then presses the brushbar "ON/OFF" button. The brushbar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed during use, and users are advised to refer to the "Clearing brushbar obstructions" section if this occurs.

High-reach cleaning is achieved by opening the wand cap and extending the red tube until the handle slides off. Tools can be attached to either the hose or wand for specialized cleaning tasks. It is important to ensure the wand cap is closed when the wand is not in use. When cleaning stairs, users are cautioned not to work with the vacuum cleaner above them to prevent it from falling and causing injury.

The clear bin™ should be emptied as soon as dirt reaches the MAX mark to prevent overfilling. To remove the clear bin™ from the vacuum cleaner, a button at the rear of the carrying handle is pressed. The red clear bin™ release button is then pressed to release the dirt. Users are advised not to shake the vacuum cleaner or press the cyclone release button while carrying it, as this could cause injury. Fine dust, such as plaster or flour, should only be vacuumed in very small amounts. If the vacuum is used in a garage for car cleaning, the soleplate and wheels should be wiped with a dry cloth afterward to remove any sand, dirt, or pebbles that could damage delicate floors.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the Dyson Ball DC25. The clear bin™ should be emptied regularly and can be cleaned, but users are cautioned not to immerse the entire cyclone in water or pour water into the cyclones. It is essential to ensure the clear bin™ is completely dry before replacing it. Detergents, polishes, or air fresheners should not be used to clean the clear bin™, and it should never be placed in a dishwasher. To minimize static charges that may occur when vacuuming certain carpets, users should avoid inserting hands or objects into the clear bin™ unless it has been emptied and rinsed with cold water.

The vacuum cleaner has two filters that require regular washing. These filters should be checked and washed with cold water at least every 3 months or as required. Before removing the filters, the vacuum cleaner must be switched "OFF" and unplugged. It is critical to ensure the filters are completely dry before refitting them into the vacuum cleaner. The filter in the ball should be rinsed and tapped out until the water runs clear, then tapped again to remove excess water. It should be left to dry completely for 24 hours. It is normal for the filter in the ball to turn grey over time. More frequent washing may be necessary if vacuuming fine dust. Detergents should not be used to clean the filters, and they should never be placed in a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven, microwave, or near an open flame.

Blockages are a common issue that can affect performance. If any part of the vacuum cleaner becomes blocked, it may overheat and automatically shut off. To clear blockages, the vacuum cleaner must be switched "OFF" and unplugged, then allowed to cool down. Users should ensure the vacuum cleaner is upright before removing the hose or airway inspection parts and be cautious of sharp objects. Clearing blockages is not covered by the 2-year guarantee. If the brushbar is obstructed, it may shut off, requiring removal of the brushbar to clear any debris. All parts must be refitted securely after maintenance.
