The Dyson Corrale™ straightener is a hair styling tool designed to achieve enhanced styling with less reliance on heat. It features flexing plates, engineered from materials selected for their flexibility, strength, and thermal conduction, which are designed to shape, gather, and control hair effectively. This innovative design aims to provide effective straightening and styling for all hair types and lengths.
The primary function of the Dyson Corrale™ straightener is to straighten and style hair. It operates by heating its flexing plates, which then apply controlled heat and pressure to the hair. The device offers three distinct heat settings: 165°C, 185°C, and 210°C, allowing users to select the temperature that best suits their hair type and styling preferences. The OLED screen displays information about the selected temperature settings and the current battery level, providing clear feedback to the user.
To begin using the straightener, the user must first slide the Lock button to open the device. A battery icon will appear on the OLED screen after pressing and holding the Power button. The Power button pulses red as the straightener heats up, and it illuminates solid red, accompanied by a prompt sound and a tick icon on the OLED screen, when it is ready for use. Temperature adjustments are made using the Temperature (+/-) control buttons. The OLED screen will show the temperature increasing or decreasing as it heats up or cools down, and the Power button will continue to pulse until the chosen temperature is reached.
The straightener incorporates a 'Sleep mode' for safety and energy conservation. If left unattended with the power on for more than five minutes, the flexing plates will automatically switch off. In this mode, the Power button flashes red, and an alert sounds every 10 seconds. Pressing any button reactivates the straightener, and the temperature will return to the last setting used. If the straightener remains unattended for a further five minutes in Sleep mode, it will turn off completely. To turn off the device manually, the user presses and holds the Power button until the OLED screen turns off. Closing the straightener and sliding the lock button to close will also initiate a cool-down sequence, with the Power button pulsing until the flexing plates have cooled. If the straightener is closed without manually turning off the power, it will automatically switch off.
The Dyson Corrale™ straightener is designed for convenience and flexibility in use. It can be used cord-free, powered by its integrated battery, offering freedom of movement during styling. For extended use, it can also be operated in 'Hybrid mode' by connecting the Magnetic 360° charging cable. While connected, the device still draws power from the battery, extending the run time, but still requires full charging between uses. It is recommended to fully charge the straightener before using it in Hybrid mode for optimal performance.
The device comes with a heat-resistant travel pouch, making it safe and convenient to store and transport immediately after use. A charging dock is included, which can serve as both a charging station and a stand for storing the straightener. The charging dock is assembled by pushing two parts together until they click securely, and the Magnetic 360° charging cable is connected to its base. The straightener can be charged either on the dock or directly via the Magnetic 360° charging cable. When charging, the battery charging LED will be amber and turn green when fully charged. If the straightener is off, a prompt will sound when the charging cable is connected.
Before initial use, the straightener requires a specific setup involving its battery connector. The battery connector, which links the battery to the plate heater, must be removed, rotated 180 degrees, and then reinserted. This step is crucial for activating the device. Users are advised to fully charge the straightener before its first use and to ensure their hair is dry and tangle-free for the best styling results.
The straightener also offers customisable settings. Users can mute the prompt sounds during active use by pressing and holding the Power and Temperature (-) buttons. However, sounds for Sleep mode or alerts cannot be muted for safety reasons. The speaker icon on the OLED screen will show a cross when sounds are muted, and repeating the action will turn them back on. Additionally, users can switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units by pressing and holding the Power and Temperature (+) buttons until their preferred unit appears on the OLED screen.
Maintaining the Dyson Corrale™ straightener is straightforward. Before cleaning, the device should be turned off and allowed to cool down completely. The flexing plates can be cleaned with a damp, lint-free cloth. Gentle rubbing is recommended to remove any stubborn hair product residue. It is important to avoid using chemicals or abrasive products, as these can damage the surface of the flexing plates.
The device includes alert screens to inform users of potential issues. A warning triangle with a thermometer symbol indicates that the straightener is 'Too hot,' prompting the user to turn it off and let it cool down. A warning triangle with a flashing power button and a finger icon suggests a 'Reset' is needed, requiring the user to turn the straightener off and then back on. If the straightener is not working as it should, indicated by a warning triangle with a speech bubble and telephone symbol, users are advised to 'Call Dyson' for assistance. Similarly, a warning triangle with a charging cable and sparks indicates a 'Charger error,' also prompting users to contact the Dyson helpline.
