2.7 PLUMBING
CONNECfiONS
A basic
requirement
of
accurate dewpoint measure-
ments
is
the
prope
r
design
of
the
gas
sampling
system.
In
order
that
the
Model2000
Series
measures
the
actual
moisture
content
ofthe
gas,
it
is
essential
that
the
sampling
components
neither
comnoute
t
o
nor absorb
moisture
fromthe
ga
s
UDder
study.Also
,
the
sampling
componems
must
no
t
modif
y
the
pressure
or
temperature
parameters
of the
gas
such
that
they
woul
d
affect
the
moisture content
of
the
sample
.
When
de
w
point mea-
surement
s
are
made
,
it
is
essential
tbat
th
e
temperature
of sampling
components
not be allowed to
drop
below
the
dewpoim
temperature
of
the
sample
.
This
prevents
condensatio
n
fromoccurringwithin.the line,causing
an
erroneousmeasurement Sampling
lines and the Sensor
must be properly
preheated
whenmeasuring
dew
points
above
ambient
atmospheric
temperature.(Refer
to
Preheatin
g
Sensor
and
Sample
Lines,
subsection
2.9).
Generally

for
dew
point
temperature

precautions
need
be
taken
in
the
selectio
n of sampling

materials,

problem

associated
with
the
hygroscop
ic
nature of
samplin
g
hardware
worsen
as
the
absolute
moisture
content
decreases

is,
as the
dew
point
lower

.

point
temperatures

w
-l8°C,
