adjustment
compensates

The GAm control is set at the

stable
operation
over the range of operation of the
instrument.
Before making
adjustments
to the GAIN
conttol
,
always
record the
bctory-set
position to aid in
returning
to
the
original
position at
a
later
date
.However,

f
dynamic
performance
must be optimized for
a particular
operating
dew point, the GAIN
control
may be
adjmted clockwise
as far as possible until unstable
operation
is
experienced,
as
noted
by
oscillations
in the dew point
temperature
and
in the
operatio
n
of the
CONIROL
indicator.
When
oscillation
occurs
during this
adjustment,
slowly turn
the
control
coUDterclockwise
umi1stable
operation
is
achieved
at a higher gain
setting.
Before
returning
to normal operation,
depres
s
the
MABC
key on the front panel of the
Model2000
Series
after
making changes to the
GAm
control to cause
the
instrument
to perfonn an ABC
cycle.

Compensation
COMPENSATION control potemiometer
R88 is
pro-
vided to introduce phase lead into the
a:zni,lifier
circuit
to
compensate
for the
thermal
phase lag
cha:ra.ctc:ristics
of
the thermoelectric cooler
in the dew point
Sensor.
Introduction
of this phase lead into the
optical
system
and
mirror
temperature
control
loop
pemrits
the loop
to
be
operated
at
a
higher gain
setting
without oscillation,
wise and advance the GAIN
control
until a
steady
oscillation is
obtained
If
oscillation
occurs, rotate
the
COMPENSATION control
clockwise
slowly,
noting
the
change
in
zesponse
for
each
increment
of
change
until
the oscillation
ceases.
If
no
oscillatio
n
occurs, it
is
permisSible to operate at
maximum GAIN.

SUGGESTEDSPAREPARTS
EdgeTech recommends that
equipment
be
returned to
the
factory
for
repairs
and part
replacements
.
However,
it is recogoized that some users are
trained
to
make
repairs
and
part
replaceme:ms
in
the
:field.
In
these
cases,
Edge
Tech
can
suggest spare parts that
may
be
needed
in
infrequent
circumstances.
resulting in improved
dynamic
perfonnance.The
fre-
quency response of this
compensation
network is
such
that it
is
effective only at dew points of 0°C
and
above.
The
COMPENSATION
control
has
been set at
the
factory
for optimum
dynamic
response
when
operating
at
high dew
points
and should not have to be
adjusted.
Before making
adjustments
to the
COMPENSATION
control,
always record the
factory-set
positio
n
to
aid
in
renJTTJin
g
to the original position at
a

date.
How-
ever
,
proper
adjustment
of the
COMPENSATION
control
may.
be
achieved
by
introducin

a
gas
sample
into the Sensor at the
highest
dew point
