This document describes the ELBA Cooker Hood models ESH-M7598(BK) and ESH-M9098(BK), providing an owner's manual with safety precautions, assembly instructions, mounting options, product description, operating instructions, cleaning and maintenance guidelines, and troubleshooting tips.
Function Description
The ELBA Cooker Hood is an electrical appliance designed for household and indoor use to extract cooking fumes and odors from the kitchen. It operates in two primary modes: ducted mode and recirculating mode. In ducted mode, the hood extracts cooking fumes and exhausts them outside through a duct pipe. In recirculating mode, the hood extracts fumes, purifies the air using grease and charcoal filters, and then recirculates the cleaned air back into the kitchen. The hood features a motor to generate suction, LED lighting to illuminate the cooking area, and a control switch for various fan speeds.
Usage Features
Installation:
The cooker hood can be mounted in two ways: under a cabinet or on a wall.
- Mounting Under the Cabinet:
- For ducted mode, a minimum Ø120mm hole must be cut in the cabinet base.
- The air outlet socket is placed on top of the hood and rotated to lock.
- Grease filters are removed before installation.
- The hood is lifted into the cabinet and secured with four screws from underneath.
- A Ø120mm duct pipe (not provided) is connected to the air outlet socket with a pipe-tightening ring (not provided).
- Charcoal filters are optional for ducted mode to purify air.
- Mounting on Wall:
- For recirculating mode, a stopper is placed on top of the hood and rotated to lock, enabling front ventilation.
- Grease filters are removed.
- The hood is lifted and secured with four screws behind the wall.
- In recirculating mode, charcoal filters must be installed to purify the air.
Operation:
The cooker hood is operated via a control switch panel.
- ON/OFF Button: Press to turn the unit on or off.
- Fan Speed Buttons:
- Low Button: Activates the cooker hood at a low fan speed.
- Medium Button: Activates the cooker hood at a medium fan speed.
- High Button: Activates the cooker hood at a high fan speed.
- Light Button: Illuminates the LED lamp on or off. The light function operates independently of the ON/OFF button.
Modes of Operation:
- Ducted Mode: Cooking fumes are extracted and expelled outside through a duct pipe. The air outlet connector is turned to the right to activate this mode.
- Recirculating Mode: Cooking fumes are extracted, passed through grease and charcoal filters for purification, and then recirculated back into the kitchen via a front vent opening. The stopper is turned to the left to activate this mode. Charcoal filters are essential in this mode for odor absorption and air purification.
Maintenance Features
Safety Precautions for Maintenance:
- Always disconnect the power supply before carrying out any maintenance.
- Avoid spilling water into the motor and electronic components.
Cleaning:
- Hood Exterior: Clean the hood with a damp cloth, hot water, and mild detergent. Do not use chemical, steel, wooden, or abrasive cleaners.
- Grease Filter: Clean the grease filter with household cleaning detergent at least once every month to ensure it is free from dirt and maintains optimal performance.
- Charcoal Filter (for Recirculating Mode): These filters absorb odors and need to be replaced regularly at intervals.
Charcoal Filter Installation/Removal:
- Disconnect the power supply and remove the grease filter.
- To install, place the charcoal filter and turn it clockwise to lock and tighten.
- To remove, turn the charcoal filter anti-clockwise to loosen.
- There are two charcoal filters provided, installed on the left and right positions.
Troubleshooting:
The manual provides guidance for common issues:
- Motor & Light Not Working: Check the control panel, buttons, power outlet, and plug.
- Motor Not Working but Light is On: Could indicate a capacitor error or faulty motor. Check the control panel and buttons. If the motor is faulty, contact an authorized service center.
- Motor Working but Light is Off: Check the control panel and buttons. If functioning, replace the LED with a new one of the proper rating (ensure power is off before replacement).
- Abnormal Tremendous Vibration: Ensure the fan is properly installed and tightened with the axle or bolts.
- Poor Exhaust Power: Verify the hood is installed at the recommended height. Clean the hood regularly. Ensure nothing is obstructing the flue. If issues persist, the motor or capacitor may be at fault, requiring service.
