Ice maker/dispenser tips

• Occasionallyshaketheicecontainertokeep
iceseparated.
• Ifyourrefrigeratorisnotconnectedtoa
watersupplyorthewatersupplyisturnedoff,
turnofftheicemakerbypressingtheOn/Off
switch.
• Ifyouneedalargequantityoficeatone
time,itisbesttogetcubesdirectlyfromthe
icecontainer.
• Thefollowingsoundsarenormalwhenthe
icemakerisoperating:
- Motorrunning
- Icedroppingintoicecontainer
- Watervalveopeningorclosing
- Icelooseningfromtray
- Runningwater
• Whendispensingice,youwillheara
snappingorclickingsoundwhentheice
chuteopensandcloses.
• Turnofftheicemakerwhencleaningthe
freezerandduringvacations.
- Ifyouturnofftheicemakerforalong
periodoftime,youshouldalsoturnoffthe
watersupplyvalve.
Cleaning the ice maker
Cleantheicemakerandicebinatregularintervals,
particularlybeforeyoutakeavacationormove.
To clean the ice maker:
1 Turnofficeproductionbypressingtheice
maker’sOff/Onswitch.
2 Removetheicebinbyliftingupandout.
3 Emptyandcarefullycleantheicebinwith
milddetergent.Rinsewithclearwater.Donot
useharshorabrasivecleaners.
4 Allowtheicebintodrycompletelybefore
replacinginthefreezer.
5 Removeicechipsandcleantheicebinshelf
andthefreezerdoorchute.
6 Replacetheicebin.Presstheicemaker’s
Off/Onswitchtoresumeiceproduction.
Remove and empty the ice storage bin
if:
• Anextendedpowerfailure(onehouror
longer)causesicecubesintheicestorage
bintomeltandfreezetogether,jammingthe
dispensermechanism.
• Youdonotusetheicedispenserfrequently.
Icecubeswillfreezetogetherinthebin,
jammingthedispensermechanism.
Removetheicestoragebinandshaketoloosen
thecubesorcleanasexplainedabove.
Neveruseanicepickorsimilarsharpinstrumentto
breakuptheice.Thiscoulddamagetheicestorage
binanddispensermechanism.
CAUTION
Chemicals from a malfunctioning water
softener can damage the ice maker. If the
water supply to your refrigerator is softened,
be sure the softener is maintained to work
properly.
IMPORTANT
Whenremovingorreplacingtheicebin,DONOT
rotatetheaugerintheicebin.Iftheaugeris
accidentallyrotated,youmustrealigntheauger
byturningitin90degreeturnsuntiltheicebints
intoplacewiththedrivemechanism.If the auger
is notproperlyalignedwhenreplacingtheice
bin,therefrigeratorwillonlydispenseCrushed
Ice.Thefreezerdoormayalsonotcloseproperly
causingwarmairtoleakintothefreezer.
