- Detergent Dispenser Drawer: Divided into compartments for prewash, main wash, and fabric softener. A brief guide to washing programs is printed on the drawer.
- Mains-on Light: Illuminates when the machine is operating.
- ON/OFF Button (①): Starts and stops the machine. It must be pressed to switch off the machine before selecting or changing a program.
- Spin Speed Reduction Button (⑯): Reduces spin speed from 850 rpm to 650 rpm for cotton, linen, and program 8.
- Economy Button (E): Activates an energy-saving mode by using lower temperatures (60°C instead of 95°C for program 2, and 40°C instead of 60°C for program 7). This extends the wash time by 20 minutes for program 2 and 10 minutes for program 7.
- Door Opening Button (☐): Releases the porthole door. A safety device controls the door, releasing it 1-2 minutes after the program ends.
- Temperature Selector Dial (Thermostat): Allows selection of washing temperature, including a cold wash option (*).
- Programme Selector Dial: Used to select the desired washing program.
Operating Sequence:
- Load Laundry: Open the door, place garments flat in the drum, and close the door securely.
- Add Detergent: Pull out the dispenser drawer and pour detergent into the main wash compartment. For prewash, use the designated compartment.
- Add Fabric Softener: If required, pour softener into its compartment, not exceeding the MAX level.
- Press Button(s) Required: Select any additional options like spin speed reduction or economy mode.
- Select Temperature: Turn the thermostat dial to the desired temperature.
- Select Programme: Turn the program selector dial clockwise to align with the desired program marker.
- Start Machine: Turn on the water tap, ensure the drain hose is correctly positioned, and press the ON/OFF button.
- End of Programme: The machine stops automatically. If a program without draining was selected, drain the water before opening the door. Wait 1-2 minutes for the door lock to release. Release all selected buttons and the ON/OFF button. Turn off the water tap and unplug the machine. Remove laundry and leave the door ajar to allow steam to escape.
Washing Hints:
- Avoid leaving damp laundry in the machine for too long to prevent mold and unpleasant smells.
- Sort laundry according to fabric type and color. Pay attention to care labels.
- Pre-wash is generally not necessary with modern detergents unless laundry is extremely dirty.
- Temperatures can often be lowered for less soiled items to save energy (e.g., 60°C instead of 95°C for white cotton).
- Load capacity varies by fabric type: drum full for cotton/linen, 1/2 full for resistant synthetics, and 1/3 full for delicate fabrics/wool.
- Before washing, mend tears, secure buttons/zips, remove small objects from pockets, and treat obstinate stains.
Detergents and Additives:
- Use good quality detergents suitable for washing machines, following manufacturer guidelines based on laundry weight, soil level, and water hardness.
- Powder detergents go into the dispenser drawer. Concentrated powder detergents should be used in the main wash compartment, and prewash programs should be avoided with them.
- Liquid detergents can be used in the middle compartment for the main wash, starting the machine immediately without prewash.
- Liquid fabric softener can prevent static electricity in synthetic garments, especially when tumble drying.
Water Hardness Degrees:
The manual provides a table for water hardness levels (soft, medium, hard, very hard) in German and French degrees.
Washing Programmes:
The manual lists "Energetic" programmes for cotton and linen (max. 6.5 kg) and "Gentle" programmes for synthetics, mixed fabrics, delicates, and wool. Each program specifies the degree of soil, detergent compartments to use, temperature selector knob setting, program selector knob setting, and a cycle description.
- Energetic Programmes (Cotton/Linen): Include options for heavy prewash, normal wash, economy wash, fast coloreds, non-fast coloreds, rinses, softener rinse, and spin only. Temperatures range from 30°C to 95°C.
- Gentle Programmes (Synthetics/Mixed Fabrics/Delicates/Wool): Include options for heavy prewash, normal wash, economy wash, spin only, delicates, woollens, quick wash, rinses, and drain. Temperatures range from 30°C to 60°C.
- Important Note for Gentle Programmes: At the end of the last rinse, the machine stops without draining water to prevent creasing. To drain, program 8 (short spin) or 13 (drain) must be selected.
Maintenance Features
- Bodywork: Clean with warm water and a neutral non-abrasive detergent. Avoid methylated spirit or similar products.
- Detergent Dispenser Drawer: Clean regularly with running water. It can be fully removed for easier cleaning by pressing a catch and pulling it out. The upper part of the softener compartment is also removable.
- Drawer Recess: Clean occasionally with an old toothbrush to remove detergent accumulation. After cleaning, replace the drawer and run a rinse cycle without laundry.
- Drain Filter: Check regularly for threads and small objects. To clean, remove the panel covering the filter, place a bowl underneath, unscrew the filter by turning it left, remove it, and clean under running tap water.
- Water Inlet Filter: If water is hard or contains lime, the filter may clog. Turn off the water tap, unscrew the inlet hose, remove and clean the filter with a hard bristle brush, then replace and tighten.
Troubleshooting
The manual provides guidance for common issues:
- Machine not starting: Check door, plug, fuse, program dial, and ON/OFF button.
- Machine not filling: Check tap, water flow, inlet hose (squashed/bent), inlet hose filter (clogged), and loading door.
- Machine emptying as it fills: Check if the drain hose end is too low.
- Machine not draining/spinning: Check drain hose (squashed/bent), drain filter (clogged), and if a gentle program was selected.
- Water on the floor: Check for too much/unsuitable detergent causing foam, or leaking joints/tap.
- Machine vibrating/noisy: Check if transit bolts/packing are removed, if the machine is touching anything, and if all feet are firmly on the ground with lock nuts secured.
If problems persist, users are advised to contact an authorized Service Centre, providing the make, model, and date of purchase. The rating plate with this information is located on the machine.
