Overview

This document is a user manual for the Electrolux LNT3FF18S Fridge Freezer, providing comprehensive instructions for its installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Electrolux LNT3FF18S is a fridge freezer designed for storing food and beverages in a single household domestic environment. It features separate compartments for refrigeration and freezing, aiming to preserve food quality and extend shelf life. The appliance utilizes isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, which is a natural gas with high environmental compatibility.

Usage Features

Control Panel: The appliance is equipped with a control panel that includes a temperature indicator LED, a FastFreeze indicator, a FastFreeze button, and a temperature regulator ON/OFF button.

Switching On/Off: To switch on, insert the plug and touch the temperature regulator button if all LED indicators are off. To switch off, touch the temperature regulator button for 3 seconds until all indicators light off.

Temperature Regulation: The temperature can be regulated by touching the temperature regulator button. The selection is progressive, ranging from 2°C to 8°C, with 4°C being the recommended setting. The current temperature indicator blinks when adjusting, and the corresponding LED blinks for a while after selection. The set temperature is reached within 24 hours and remains stored after a power failure.

FastFreeze Function: This function is designed for pre-freezing and fast freezing in the freezer compartment. It accelerates the freezing of fresh food and protects already stored food from warming. To activate, press the FastFreeze button; the FastFreeze indicator will switch on. It is recommended to activate this function at least 24 hours before placing fresh food in the freezer. The function stops automatically after 52 hours but can be deactivated manually by pressing the FastFreeze button again.

Door Open Alarm: An alarm sounds if the fridge door is left open for approximately 5 minutes. The sound can be muted by pressing any button and switches off automatically after about an hour to avoid disturbance. The alarm deactivates once the door is closed.

Positioning Door Shelves: The door shelves are adjustable to accommodate food packages of various sizes. They can be pulled up to free them and then repositioned as desired.

Movable Shelves: The refrigerator walls have runners that allow shelves to be positioned at different heights. It is important not to move the glass shelf above the vegetable drawer to ensure correct air circulation.

Vegetable Drawers: Special drawers are located at the bottom of the appliance for storing fruits and vegetables.

Humidity Control: A glass shelf incorporates a device with adjustable slits (via a sliding lever) to regulate humidity in the vegetable drawer(s). Closing the slots is recommended for small amounts of produce to preserve moisture, while opening them is for larger amounts to increase air circulation and lower moisture. No food products should be placed directly on the humidity control device.

Temperature Indicator: A temperature indicator on the side wall of the appliance shows the coldest area. If "OK" (A) is displayed, fresh food can be placed in this area. If not "OK" (B), wait 12 hours and recheck. If it's still not "OK", adjust the setting to a colder temperature.

DYNAMICAIR: The refrigerator compartment has a DYNAMICAIR device for rapid cooling and uniform temperature distribution. It should be switched on when cooling a large amount of food or when the room temperature is above 35°C. Pressing button (A) switches it on, and a green light (B) appears. Remember to turn it off by pressing button (A) again.

Freezing Fresh Food: The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing and storing fresh, frozen, and deep-frozen food. Activate the FastFreeze function at least 24 hours before placing food. Store fresh food evenly in all compartments or drawers. The maximum amount of food that can be frozen in 24 hours is specified on the rating plate.

Storage of Frozen Food: When starting the appliance or after a period of disuse, run it for at least 3 hours with FastFreeze activated before storing food. Freezer drawers make it easy to find food. For large quantities, drawers can be removed to use shelves. Keep food at least 15 mm from the door. In case of accidental defrosting (e.g., power failure), consume defrosted food quickly or cook, cool, and re-freeze it.

Thawing: Deep-frozen or frozen food can be thawed in the refrigerator or in a plastic bag under cold water, depending on the time available and food type. Small pieces can be cooked while still frozen.

Ice-Cube Production: The appliance includes trays for ice-cube production. Fill them with water and place them in the freezer compartment. Metallic instruments should not be used to remove trays.

Hints for Energy Saving: The internal configuration ensures efficient energy use. Avoid frequent or prolonged door opening. Colder freezer settings increase energy consumption. Do not set the fridge temperature too high unless necessary. If ambient temperature is high, control is set low, and the appliance is full, the compressor may run continuously, causing frost. In this case, set a higher temperature. Ensure good ventilation and do not cover grilles.

Hints for Freezing: Activate FastFreeze 24 hours prior. Wrap and seal fresh food in foil, plastic film, bags, or airtight containers. Divide food into small portions for efficient freezing and thawing. Label and date frozen food. Freeze fresh food to preserve quality, especially fruits and vegetables after harvest. Do not freeze bottles or cans with liquids containing carbon dioxide. Cool hot food to room temperature before freezing. Avoid placing fresh unfrozen food directly next to already frozen food. Do not eat ice cubes or lollies immediately from the freezer. Do not re-freeze defrosted food.

Hints for Storage of Frozen Food: The freezer compartment is marked with ****. A medium temperature setting ensures good preservation. Higher temperatures may shorten shelf life. The entire freezer is suitable for frozen food. Leave space for air circulation. Refer to food packaging for shelf life. Wrap food to prevent water, humidity, or condensation.

Shopping Tips: Ensure packaging is undamaged. Buy frozen goods last and transport them in an insulated bag. Place frozen foods immediately in the freezer. Do not re-freeze partially defrosted food. Respect expiry dates.

Hints for Fresh Food Refrigeration: Maintain a temperature of +4°C or less. Higher temperatures shorten shelf life. Cover food to preserve freshness and aroma. Use closed containers for liquids and food to avoid odors and cross-contamination. Defrost food in the fridge. Cool hot food to room temperature before placing it in the appliance. Place new stock behind old stock to prevent waste.

Hints for Food Refrigeration (Specifics): Meat: Wrap and place on the glass shelf above the vegetable drawer for 1-2 days. Fruits and vegetables: Clean thoroughly and place in the special drawer. Avoid keeping exotic fruits (bananas, mangos, papayas) in the refrigerator. Do not keep vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes, onions, and garlic in the refrigerator. Butter and cheese: Place in an airtight container or wrap in foil/polythene bag. Bottles: Close with a cap and place on the door bottle shelf or rack. Activate the fan (DYNAMICAIR) to accelerate cooling and homogenize internal temperatures. Always refer to product expiry dates.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning the Interior: Before first use, wash the interior and all accessories with lukewarm water and neutral soap, then dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners.

Periodic Cleaning: Clean the equipment regularly. Wash the inside and accessories with lukewarm water and neutral soap. Check and wipe door seals clean. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Accessories are not suitable for dishwashers.

Defrosting the Refrigerator: Frost is automatically eliminated during normal use. Defrost water drains into a special container at the back of the appliance and evaporates. Periodically clean the defrost water drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator compartment channel to prevent overflow. Use the provided tube cleaner.

Defrosting the Freezer: Defrost when the frost layer reaches 3-5 mm.

  1. Switch off the appliance or unplug it.
  2. Remove stored food and place it in a cool area.
  3. Leave the door open, protecting the floor from defrosting water.
  4. To speed up defrosting, place a pot of warm water in the freezer compartment. Remove ice pieces that break away. Use the supplied ice scraper.
  5. After defrosting, dry the interior thoroughly.
  6. Switch on the appliance and close the door.
  7. Set the temperature regulator to maximum coldness and run for at least 3 hours before returning food. Do not use sharp metal tools or mechanical devices to speed up thawing. Do not touch frozen goods with wet hands. Set a lower temperature about 12 hours before defrosting to build up chill reserve.

Period of Non-Operation: If the appliance is not in use for a long period:

  1. Disconnect from electricity.
  2. Remove all food.
  3. Defrost the appliance.
  4. Clean the appliance and accessories.
  5. Leave doors open to prevent unpleasant smells.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the appliance not operating, being noisy, alarms, compressor running continually, door not opening easily, lamp not working, excessive frost, water flow, and temperature issues. Solutions range from simple checks (e.g., plug connection, door closure) to adjusting settings or contacting an Authorized Service Centre.

Replacing the Lamp: The appliance has a long-life LED interior light. Only service personnel are allowed to replace the lighting device.

Closing the Door: To ensure proper door closure, clean the door gaskets, adjust the door if necessary (refer to installation instructions), and replace defective door gaskets by contacting the Authorized Service Centre.
