VISCOSITY
MEASUREMENT
Note
:
Please
use
a filter
to
strain
the
paint
after
dilution(See
Fig.
G1
),
preventing
the
nozz
le
or
straw
from
clogging
due
to
paint
lumps.
Most
paints
are
supplied
ready
for
brush
application
and
will
need
to
be
thinned
befo
re
they
are
suitable
to
be
sprayed
.
Follow
the
manufacturer
's
advice
on

The
viscosity
cup
will
help
you
to
de
t
ermine
the
correct
viscosity of
pain
t
to
be
used
.
To
determine
the
correc
t
viscosity
(See
Fi
g.G2)
1)
Stir
well
the
paint
before
the
starting
to
measure.
2)
Dip
the
viscosity
cup
fully
into
the
liquid
you
intend
to
spray,
and
fill
the
viscosity
cup
to
t
he
bri
m
with
paint.
3)
Take
the
viscosity
cup
out
of
the
liquid
,
hold
the
viscosity
cup
over
the
paint
or
stain
pot,
and
then
calculate
the
time
it
takes
for
the
liquid
to
drain
from
the
cup.
This
is
called
liquid's
run
-
DIN
-
seconds(DIN-s).
If it
takes
longer
for
the
liquid
to
leave
the
viscosity
cup
than
the
time
shown
on
the
chart,
di
lute
the
liquid
until
the
run
-
DIN-seconds(DIN-s)
falls
within
the
time
range
shown
for
t
he
liquid
you
are
using.
4)
After
completing
this
process
, if
you
are
using
a
water-based
product
,
clean
the
viscosity
cup
with
warm
soapy
water.
If
you
are
using
an
oil-based
product,
follow
the
paint
manufactu
rer's
instructions
for
cleaning
.
