The iTHERM CompactLine TM311 is a compact thermometer designed for industrial temperature measurement, featuring IO-Link communication. This device is engineered for fast, highly accurate measurements, ensuring maximum process safety and control. It offers a robust design with various options for electrical connection, process connections, and thermowell types, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial, hygienic, and aseptic applications.
Function Description:
The iTHERM CompactLine TM311 measures temperature and transmits the data via IO-Link or 4 to 20 mA output. In IO-Link digital mode, it cyclically transmits temperature values and the state of the switch output in 32-bit chunks. The device supports the IO-Link Smart Sensor Profile 2nd Edition (SSP type 3.1), providing identification, diagnosis, and digital measuring sensor capabilities. It can be configured in SIO mode (Standard IO-Mode) or IO-Link communication mode, with the latter enabling direct access to process and diagnostic data and configuration during operation.
The device features an integrated transmitter that can output either IO-Link or a 4 to 20 mA signal. This compact integration reduces cost and effort, prevents incorrect wiring, and offers optimum protection up to IP69. The thermometer is available with different insert types, including iTHERM TipSens for shortest response times (3 mm or 6 mm diameter) and Pt100 (TF) basic inserts, offering excellent cost-performance ratios. The iTHERM TipSens design minimizes the necessary immersion length, leading to better product protection and improved process flow.
The device includes diagnostic functions that monitor its operational status. It generates diagnostic messages (e.g., S825 for device temperature at 100 °C, F001 or Failure current for 125 °C or higher) and provides status signals categorized according to NAMUR Recommendation NE 107 (F = Failure, C = Function Check, S = Out of Specification, M = Maintenance Required). These messages are displayed via the IO-Link communication interface and are saved in an event logbook with timestamps.
