Overview

This document is the owner's manual for the Rio 2.0 Adjustable Base, a bed base designed for in-home use. It provides detailed instructions for installation, operation, and troubleshooting, along with important safety precautions and usage statements.

Function Description:

The Rio 2.0 Adjustable Base is an adjustable bed foundation that allows users to articulate the head and foot sections of the bed to various positions. It is operated via a wireless remote control, which comes pre-paired with the base. Key functions include raising and lowering the head and foot sections, returning the base to a flat position, and a "Zero-G®" preset that elevates the legs above the heart to relieve lower back pressure and promote circulation. The base is designed to work with a mattress and is suitable for various activities such as reading, watching TV, or simply relaxing. It also supports optional features like headboard brackets and connecting straps for split base setups.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Weight Limits: The product is rated to support weights up to 750 pounds, provided the weight is evenly distributed across the bed base. Exceeding this limit or concentrating weight solely on the head or foot sections can damage the bed and/or cause injury, voiding the warranty.
  • Motor Duty Cycle: The lift motors are designed to operate continuously for no more than 2 minutes within an 18-minute time period, or approximately a 10% duty cycle. Exceeding this rating can shorten the product's lifespan and void the warranty.
  • Massage Motor Operation: Massage motors are not designed for continuous operation for more than 30 minutes at a time. A 30-minute rest period is recommended after automatic massage shut-off before restarting.
  • Remote Control Power: The wireless remote control requires three (3) AAA batteries for operation.
  • Articulation Tolerance: The angle between the back section and the flat section (designated "α") has a tolerance of ± 3°, translating to up to 1 ½". The angle between the flat section and foot section (designated "β") has a tolerance of ± 3°, translating to up to ¼”.
  • FCC Compliance: The equipment complies with Class B digital device limits under part 15 of the FCC Rules, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations.

Usage Features:

  • Wireless Remote Control: The base is controlled by a wireless remote with dedicated buttons for head up/down, foot up/down, flat position, and Zero-G® preset.
  • Child-Lock Safety Feature: The remote control includes a child-lock function to prevent unintended operation. Activation involves pressing and holding FLAT and HEAD UP buttons for 3 seconds, indicated by two flashes of the remote's backlight. Deactivation involves pressing and holding FLAT and FOOT UP buttons for 3 seconds, also indicated by two backlight flashes.
  • Manual Operation: In case of a platform jam when flattened, the platform can be manually raised by lifting both the head and foot sections to relieve pressure.
  • Emergency Stop: Pressing any button on the remote control will stop the motion of the platform.
  • Split Unit Compatibility: For split base setups (e.g., Twin Long, Cal King Split), optional connecting straps can be used to secure the bases together, and a Sync Cord (included with the base for TXL sizes) can connect two control boxes for synchronized operation with a single remote.
  • Adjustable Leg Heights: Legs are shipped fully assembled, but alternative heights in 3-inch increments can be achieved by removing leg segments.
  • Headboard Bracket Compatibility: Optional headboard brackets are available for attaching a headboard to the adjustable base.

Maintenance Features:

  • Surge Protection: It is strongly recommended to plug the bed base into a surge protector (not included) for optimal safety and operation. Failure to do so may compromise safety, cause product malfunction, and void the electrical portion of the warranty.
  • Cleaning: To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug the base before cleaning.
  • Fabric Care: To prolong fabric life, protect from direct sunlight. For spot cleaning, wipe with a light damp sponge or vacuum with a soft brush. For deeper cleaning, blot liquid spills with a clean dry cloth dampened with warm water, avoiding excessive wetting. A soft bristle brush can remove ingrained soil. Dry in shade away from direct heat.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides steps for common issues, including checking wired connections, verifying power supply LED, resetting electronic components by unplugging, ensuring child lock is not enabled, and testing different electrical outlets. Customer service contact information (1-888-550-3746) is provided for further assistance.
  • Break-in Period: Spending time on the adjustable bed through activities like reading or watching TV can help speed up the break-in period, allowing the base to respond better to weight and temperature changes.
