EP0201009Surface Resistance Meter SR 800
Measurement with the integrated parallel electrodes
Surface measurement point to point (Rp-p)
- Do not clean the surface before testing.
- Remove all objects from the surface that could
interfere with the test.
- ESD-sensitive devices should also be removed.
- Place the surface tester on the most used surface.
(at least 5 cm from any edge, 8 cm from any grounding
point).
- Switch the electrode switch B to "INTERNAL" for the
internal electrodes.
- Press and hold test contact E until the measurement is
displayed.
- If the measurement is outside the permissible limits,
clean the surface and test again to see if the cause of
the error is a layer of dirt that may be insulating.
Using the external electrodes
General rule:
- Use both 2.27 kg electrodes for resistance
measurements point to point (Rp-p).
- Make sure that the object to be measured is
electrically insulated, as the surface tester
always measures the path of least resistance.
- Make sure that the test leads are as separated
as possible.
- Place the unit no closer than 5 cm from the edge of the surface to be measured and no closer than
8 cm from any earthing point.
- Place the 2.27 kg electrodes about 25 cm apart for point-to-point measurements (Rp-p) and about
90 cm apart for ground measurements.
- Preferred measurement points should be:
- Most frequently used parts of the surface, most worn areas, Centre of the surface, point furthest from
the grounding point.
- If the surface to be measured has sections (joints in floor tiles, seams in clothing), place the 2,27 kg
electrodes on different sections.
