Safety information
Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners as these could damage the finish.
In normal circumstances, stainless steel is very resistant to corrosion. It does however require maintenance to
preserve the high quality appearance. Wash the product with warm soapy water, removing all surface deposits. Rinse
with clear water and with a soft cloth, wipe dry.
In some cases, surface corrosion may arise after installation. This is normally caused by tiny iron particles left
behind after the brushing process when finishing.
Wash and dry as detailed above. Then with a soft cloth soaked with a protective oil, wipe all over.
However if the product is subject to extreme environmental conditions such as marine locations, industrial pollution
and acid rain these maintenance procedures should be carried out around four times a year. For severe corrosion,
non-abrasive cream cleaners or proprietary stainless steel cleaners should be used to remove the corrosion. Wash
and dry as detailed above. Then with a soft cloth soaked with a protective oil, wipe all over.
Shade - Remove and wash in warm water or just use a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive materials as these will
damage the finish.
Do not clean the units with a pressure washer.
This bulb is protected by a shade. This part must be replaced immediately should the shade become
cracked or damaged. This fitting must not be used without the shade in place.
When changing a bulb, always switch off at the mains and allow the bulb to cool before handling.
Dispose of used bulbs carefully.
Do not exceed the wattage stated from that indicated on the fitting.
To access the bulb, remove the screws on top of the shade, and lift off the top. Set aside.
Relocate the shade top over the screws and secure in place with the screws.

Overview

This document describes the Antler PIR Outdoor Wall Light, models 9466F and 6362F, an outdoor light fitting with an integrated Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor.

Function Description

The Antler PIR Outdoor Wall Light is designed for outdoor use, providing illumination triggered by motion detection. Unlike many PIR fittings, this unit will only activate for the first time once the ambient light level drops below 10 Lux, ensuring it is not triggered during initial commissioning in daylight. The PIR sensor detects movement within its adjustable range and angle, activating the light for a user-defined duration.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Voltage: 240V 50Hz a.c.
  • Lamp Type: 1 x Max 60W E27 (ES) bulb
  • IP Rating: IP44 (This product is rated at IP44, indicating protection against solid objects greater than 1mm and splashing water from any direction. However, it is explicitly stated that "This product is not suitable for location in or near a marine environment.")
  • Class: Class 1 product (must be earthed)
  • PIR Detection Angle: 110 degrees
  • PIR Detection Range: Adjustable from 1 to 8 metres
  • Light Duration: Adjustable from 5 seconds to 5 minutes
  • Installation Height: Must be installed in a vertical position, 1.8m above the ground.
  • Lux Level for Activation: Below 10 Lux for initial commissioning and subsequent operation.

Usage Features

  • Adjustable Detection Range (Sens): The PIR sensor's detection distance can be altered using the 'Sens' screw, allowing customization to suit the specific location. When adjusting sensitivity in daylight, it is necessary to cover the sensor to simulate night time for accurate testing.
  • Adjustable Light Duration (Time): The length of time the lamp stays on after activation can be adjusted using the 'Time' screw, from a minimum of 5 seconds to a maximum of 5 minutes.
  • Bulb Replacement: To access the bulb, screws on top of the shade must be removed, and the top lifted off. The fitting accommodates one E27 (ES) bulb with a maximum wattage of 60W. Users are cautioned not to exceed the stated wattage.
  • Installation: The unit requires installation by a competent and qualified electrician in accordance with IEE Wiring regulations and current Building Regulations. It must be connected to a circuit with a 30mA RCD fitted. The mounting box is fixed to the wall using supplied screws and plugs, ensuring the wall can support the product's weight. Screw fixings must be sealed to maintain the IP rating. The cable should be threaded through a hole in the rubber gasket of the mounting box, with the drain hole positioned at the base.
  • Safety: Always switch off the mains supply before changing lightbulbs or cleaning. The bulb is protected by a shade, which must be replaced immediately if cracked or damaged. The fitting must not be used without the shade in place. The entire unit gets hot whilst on for a period of time.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners as these could damage the finish. For normal circumstances, the product should be washed with warm soapy water to remove surface deposits, rinsed with clear water, and wiped dry with a soft cloth.
  • Stainless Steel Maintenance: While stainless steel is highly resistant to corrosion, it requires maintenance to preserve its high-quality appearance.
    • Initial Surface Corrosion: If surface corrosion appears after installation (often due to tiny iron particles from the brushing process), wash and dry as detailed above, then wipe with a soft cloth soaked with a protective oil.
    • Extreme Environmental Conditions: For locations subject to marine environments, industrial pollution, or acid rain, these maintenance procedures should be performed approximately four times a year.
    • Severe Corrosion: For severe corrosion, non-abrasive cream cleaners or proprietary stainless steel cleaners should be used to remove the corrosion, followed by washing, drying, and wiping with a protective oil.
  • Shade Cleaning: The shade can be removed and washed in warm water or cleaned with a damp cloth. Abrasive materials should not be used on the shade as they will damage the finish.
  • Pressure Washers: Do not clean the units with a pressure washer.
  • Recycling: Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. Users are advised to recycle where facilities exist and to check with their Local Authority or retailer for recycling advice.
  • Bulb Handling: When changing a bulb, always switch off at the mains and allow the bulb to cool before handling. Used bulbs should be disposed of carefully and responsibly.
