Overview

This document describes the Euroboor ECO.50+/T magnetic drilling machine, a professional tool designed for drilling and cutting solutions.

Function Description

The Euroboor ECO.50+/T is a magnetic drilling machine intended for commercial use. It is capable of drilling with annular cutters, twist drills, and for countersinking in a weather-protected environment. The machine can be used horizontally, vertically, or overhead. It features a GYRO-TEC safety functionality with a gyroscopic sensor that detects acceleration and displacement. In the event of sudden or unwanted movement, the motor will shut down automatically, offering enhanced safety during operation.

Usage Features

The ECO.50+/T features a control panel with an L/R switch, motor switch, magnet LED indicator, fuse holder with fuse, speed control knob, and magnet switch.

Preparation & Adjustment:

  • Feed handles: Three feed handles are screwed into the hub clockwise and tightened firmly by hand.
  • Safety guard: The safety guard protects against chippings and accidental contact. It must always be mounted before operation by aligning slots with holes in the magnet and fitting screws.
  • Lubrication system: The lubrication system is used for horizontal drilling. The tank hangs on a holder, secured by an attachment pin. A hose connects to the gearbox fitting. For vertical or overhead drilling, Euroboor cutting paste is recommended instead of liquid cutting fluid.
  • Safety chain: Essential for securing the machine to the workpiece.
  • Workpiece requirements: The machine is suitable for use on steel with a thickness starting from 6 mm, with zero air gap between the magnet core surface and the mounting surface. Curvature, paint, and surface irregularities create an air gap, which should be minimized.
  • Electromagnet: The electromagnet works on surfaces of at least 10 mm (3/8") thickness. A green LED indicates sufficient generated magnetic force, while a red LED indicates insufficient force.
  • Gearbox: Mechanical speed is shifted using a black slider on the side of the gearbox. Gear 1 is for Ø 27-50 mm (1 1/16" - 2") at 280 rpm, and Gear 2 is for Ø 12-26 mm (1/2" - 1") at 530 rpm.
  • Annular cutters: Install by placing the pilot pin into the cutter, aligning the flat faces on the cutter shank with the screws in the tool holder, making sure the cutter shank is entered fully and correctly, and tightening the screws.
  • Twist drills: Straight shank twist drills use a Weldon to drill chuck adapter. Weldon shank twist drills fit directly.
  • Machine taps: The ECO.50+/T is suited for counter clockwise rotation for cutting threads.
  • Countersinks: Used for reaming or countersinking.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance ensures years of premium drilling performance.

  • Visual check: Before each use, check for damage to the machine, cable, and any signs of impact.
  • Cleaning: Keep the work area clean and well lit. Clean all dirt, dust, metal chips, and burrs from the drilling machine. Use a cloth dampened with water and mild soap for cleaning non-metallic parts.
  • Operation check: Ensure all components are working correctly and replace any defective parts immediately.
  • Check magnetic base: Ensure the base is flat and there is no damage. An uneven magnet base will cause the magnet to hold not as efficiently.
  • Magnetic base rust protection: Apply a small amount of machine oil to the underside of the magnetic base for rust protection.
  • Gearbox grease: Check gearbox grease monthly and ensure all moving components are covered to prevent wear. Grease should be changed at least once a year.
  • Carbon brush replacement: The carbon brush LED indicator lights up when replacement is needed. The motor will shut off automatically to prevent armature damage.
  • Check armature: Check at least once a month for visual signs of damage to the body or commutator.
  • Adjustment of slide: Ensure the slide can move in a smooth and controlled manner, free of lateral movement and vibration. Adjust the slide by placing the machine in an upright position, cleaning the aluminum rails, applying light machine oil, and adjusting screws for smooth movement.
  • Lubricating the feed travel: The feed travel should be lubricated periodically with grease to ensure smooth operation. Raise the motor unit to the highest position possible, lubricate the dove-tail guideway at both sides, and lubricate the gear rack.
  • Repair, modification and inspection: Repairs must be performed by Euroboor or an authorized dealer using identical replacement parts.
  • Warranty: Euroboor B.V. warrants this magnetic drilling machine to be free of material defects and workmanship errors under normal use for a period of 12 months after date of purchase. This can be extended to 24 months by registering the product online.
