This document provides instructions for the Evaglide Battery Roman Blinds, which are bi-directional and manufactured by Evans Textiles. It serves as a comprehensive guide for connecting the remote to the headrail, setting limits, adjusting the middle position, copying settings to other remotes or channels, removing all settings, changing motor direction, fine-tuning limits, and adjusting motor speed.
Function Description:
The Evaglide Battery Roman Blinds are motorized window coverings designed for ease of use and convenience. They operate bi-directionally, meaning they can move both up and down, and are controlled by a remote. The system allows for precise control over the blind's position, including setting upper, lower, and middle limits, as well as adjusting the motor's speed. The battery-powered operation offers flexibility in installation, as it does not require direct wiring to a power source. The "bi-directional" aspect likely refers to the motor's ability to receive and act on commands in both directions (up and down) and potentially to communicate back to the remote or a central system, though the manual primarily focuses on the user's control over movement.
Usage Features:
Remote Connection and Pairing:
- Multi-channel Remote Compatibility: The system supports multi-channel remotes, allowing users to select a specific channel for controlling the blinds.
- Simple Pairing Process: To connect the remote to the headrail, the user presses a button on the motor for approximately 2 seconds until it "shunts" (a brief movement or sound indicating a change in state). This button is located in a small hole next to the motor's wire. A similar shunt occurs when the battery is first connected. Within 10 seconds of the motor shunting, the user must press and hold the STOP button on the remote for about 2 seconds until the motor shunts again, confirming that the remote is paired.
Limit Setting:
- Automatic Limit Setting Mode: Immediately after pairing, the system enters limit setting mode.
- Jog Mode for Fine Adjustment: The UP and DOWN buttons on the remote can be pressed once for "Jog mode," which allows for short, precise movements of the blind.
- Continuous Movement: Pressing and holding the UP or DOWN button will cause the blind to move continuously.
- Setting Upper Limit: The user moves the blind to the desired upper position using the UP button (either jog or continuous movement), then presses STOP. To confirm the upper limit, the user presses and holds STOP and UP together until the blind shunts.
- Setting Lower Limit: Similarly, the user moves the blind to the desired lower position using the DOWN button, presses STOP, and then presses and holds STOP and DOWN together until the blind shunts to set the lower limit.
Middle Position Setting:
- Defining a Middle Position: The user can set a specific middle position for the blind. This involves moving the blind to the desired middle point and pressing STOP.
- Confirmation Sequence: Pressing the P2 button on the remote will cause the blind to shunt. Pressing STOP again will cause another shunt, and pressing STOP a third time will confirm the middle position.
- Recalling Middle Position: To move the blind to the set middle position, the user holds the STOP button for approximately 2-3 seconds.
Copying Settings:
- Remote-to-Remote Copying: If a remote (Remote A) is already paired to a blind, its settings can be copied to another remote (Remote B). This is done by pressing P2 on Remote A (which will cause the blind to shunt), pressing P2 again (another shunt), and then pressing P2 on Remote B (which will cause a shunt), thereby copying Channel A's settings to Remote B.
- Channel-to-Channel Copying: Settings can also be copied from one channel (Channel A) to another channel (Channel B) on the same remote. The process is similar: while on Channel A, press P2 (shunt), press P2 again (shunt), switch to Channel B, and then press P2 (shunt) to copy Channel A's settings to Channel B.
Maintenance Features:
Removing All Settings:
- Factory Reset: To remove all settings, including pairing with the remote, the user presses and holds the button on the motor until the 4th shunt occurs. This effectively performs a factory reset.
Changing Motor Direction:
- Reversing Movement: If the blind's UP and DOWN commands are reversed, the motor direction can be changed. This is done by pressing and holding the button on the motor until the 3rd shunt occurs.
Fine-Tuning Limits:
- Post-Initial Setting Adjustment: After initial limit setting, users can fine-tune the upper and lower limits.
- Adjusting Upper Limit: Press and hold STOP and UP together until the blind shunts. Then, use UP or DOWN to move the blind to the new desired limit. Press UP AND STOP together until the blind shunts to confirm the new upper limit.
- Adjusting Lower Limit: Press and hold STOP and DOWN together until the blind shunts. Then, use UP or DOWN to move the blind to the new desired limit. Press DOWN AND STOP together until the blind shunts to confirm the new lower limit.
Adjusting Motor Speed:
- Speed Control: The motor speed can be adjusted. The factory default is the fastest speed.
- Adjustment Process: Press the P2 button on the remote (blind shunts). Press UP to increase speed or DOWN to decrease speed (blind shunts). Press UP to increase speed or DOWN to decrease speed again (blind shunts again). If no shunt occurs after the second adjustment, the motor is already running at that speed.
