  If the makeup valve on your EVAPCO Cooling boxes won't shut off, there are several potential causes. First, the make-up water pressure might be too high; for mechanical valves, it needs to be between 20 and 50 psi. A pressure reducing valve can lower excessive pressure. For electronic water level controls, the electrical actuator requires 5 to 125 psi. Other causes include debris in the solenoid (clean it out), a frozen float ball (inspect and replace if needed), or a float ball full of water (check for leaks and replace).

Also, ensure the pump has been wired correctly and that the supply voltage is accurate. Note that changes in pump flow due to clogged or blown nozzles should not cause overamping.

  Rust spots on the surface of your EVAPCO Cooling boxes typically aren't signs of the stainless steel corroding. Often, they result from foreign material like welding slag collecting on the surface. These spots can be removed with a good cleaning. EVAPCO recommends using either Naval Jelly or a good stainless steel cleaner, such as Mother’s Wax, along with a Scotch-Brite pad. Regular maintenance of the unit’s surface is advised.

  Most of the time, what appears to be cracking insulation on EVAPCO Cooling boxes is actually cracking paint. If the paint is degrading, it should be touched up to maintain the finish on the insulation. Maintaining the finish of the insulation paint should be part of your standard maintenance. If the insulation itself is cracking, consult your local Evapco representative.

  If you have low pan water level in your EVAPCO Cooling boxes, it could be due to the Electronic Water Level Control Float Ball not being set correctly; refer to the EWLC Section. You can also adjust the float ball up or down to achieve the proper water level. Note that the float ball is set to the operating level at the factory.
