What to do if the EVAPCO ATWB Cooling boxes makeup valve will not shut off?
    • E
      Erica SpenceAug 14, 2025
If the makeup valve on your EVAPCO Cooling boxes won't shut off, there are several potential causes. First, the make-up water pressure might be too high; for mechanical valves, it needs to be between 20 and 50 psi. A pressure reducing valve can lower excessive pressure. For electronic water level controls, the electrical actuator requires 5 to 125 psi. Other causes include debris in the solenoid (clean it out), a frozen float ball (inspect and replace if needed), or a float ball full of water (check for leaks and replace).

Why are the EVAPCO ATWB Cooling boxes pump motors overamping?
    • Z
      zwilliamsAug 17, 2025
If your EVAPCO Cooling boxes pump motor is overamping, especially if the unit has only run for a few hours, it might be due to the pump wear ring needing to wear in. This should only cause small percentage increases. If the issue persists, verify the pump can turn freely by hand; if not, it likely needs replacement. Also, ensure the pump has been wired correctly and that the supply voltage is accurate. Note that changes in pump flow due to clogged or blown nozzles should not cause overamping.

What to do if the EVAPCO ATWB cold water basin is overflowing?
    • B
      bdixonAug 21, 2025
If the cold water basin of your EVAPCO Cooling boxes is overflowing, it could be due to a problem with the make-up line. Refer to the Makeup Valve or Electronic Water Level section for troubleshooting. If it's a multi-cell unit, ensure all cells are installed level with each other, as uneven installation can cause overflowing in one cell.

How to clean scaled inlet louvers on EVAPCO Cooling boxes AT units?
    • M
      martinezalexisAug 25, 2025
To clean scaled inlet louvers on EVAPCO Cooling boxes AT units, avoid using a power washer or wire brush as they can damage the louvers. Instead, remove the louver assemblies and soak them in the cold water basin of the unit. The water treatment chemicals present will help neutralize and dissolve the scale buildup. The soaking time depends on the severity of the scaling, assuming chemicals are in use.

Why is water constantly blowing out of the EVAPCO Cooling boxes overflow connection?
    • S
      Sydney GarciaAug 27, 2025
Water blowing out of the overflow connection in EVAPCO Cooling boxes, particularly in forced draft units, can be due to positive pressure in the casing section. To resolve this, pipe the overflow with a P-trap to an appropriate drain. Also, verify the actual operating level against the recommended levels in the O&M manual to ensure the overflow connection has been properly piped.

Why is the stainless steel rusting on my EVAPCO ATWB Cooling boxes?
    • P
      Peter ChandlerAug 31, 2025
Rust spots on the surface of your EVAPCO Cooling boxes typically aren't signs of the stainless steel corroding. Often, they result from foreign material like welding slag collecting on the surface. These spots can be removed with a good cleaning. EVAPCO recommends using either Naval Jelly or a good stainless steel cleaner, such as Mother’s Wax, along with a Scotch-Brite pad. Regular maintenance of the unit’s surface is advised.

Why is the fluid cooler insulation cracking on my EVAPCO ATWB?
    • A
      alexander84Sep 3, 2025
Most of the time, what appears to be cracking insulation on EVAPCO Cooling boxes is actually cracking paint. If the paint is degrading, it should be touched up to maintain the finish on the insulation. Maintaining the finish of the insulation paint should be part of your standard maintenance. If the insulation itself is cracking, consult your local Evapco representative.

How to fix low pan water level in EVAPCO ATWB?
    • T
      Tracy PayneSep 9, 2025
If you have low pan water level in your EVAPCO Cooling boxes, it could be due to the Electronic Water Level Control Float Ball not being set correctly; refer to the EWLC Section. You can also adjust the float ball up or down to achieve the proper water level. Note that the float ball is set to the operating level at the factory.
