Operating instructions.
CAUTION: Lead-Acid batteries can emit explosive gases when charged. Prevent sparks and
fire sources close to the battery. Provide good ventilation – appliance should be used only
in well ventilated areas.
Typical charge:
1. Connect the charger connectors to corresponding battery terminals. It is recommended to
connect the positive connector before connecting the negative. Preserve correct polarity (+/-).
If the battery is installed inside a vehicle disconnecting negative (chassis/ground) clamp from
the battery is advised.
2. Ensure that the charger connectors have been connected properly and securely. Connect
the charger to AC mains power source.
3. In a few seconds the charger will automatically detect battery voltage and start the charging
process. Charger uses default 2A charging current. By pressing “MODE” button user can
change maximum current to 5A and 10A (for 24V batteries maximum charging current is
limited to 5A).
4. Pressing the “MODE” button for 2-3s will activate low-temperature operation mode.
It will raise the full charge cut-off voltage from 14.4V to 14.7V (for 12V battery) or from 28.8V
to 29.4V (for 24V battery). It may improve charging efficiency in low temperature (close to 0
Celsius degrees) conditions. This mode can be also used to fully charge some AGM
rechargeable batteries (refer to battery's manual for further information).
5. Estimated progress of the charge process can be read from LED indicators (red: 25%-50%-
75%, green: 100%). Please note that the indicated progress is only an estimate and may not
always correspond to the actual charge level of the battery.
6. Fully charged battery is monitored and in case of a voltage drop (below 12.3V for 12V
battery and 24.6V for 24V battery) the charging process will be automatically restarted with
1.5A current.
7. When the charging process is finished disconnect the charger from AC mains power source,
next disconnect negative connector from the battery. Next, disconnect the positive connector.
Charge phases description:
1. Battery recovery function.
When low voltage is detected on the connected battery (4.5-10.5V for 12V battery, and 16-21V
for 24V battery) the charger uses soft 1.5A current to recover the battery.
2. Charging the battery.
In this step the charger uses maximum selected current to charge the battery.
3. Topping up the battery.
The battery is charged with the selected current to about 70-80% capacity. While the battery
voltage raises, the charge current is lowered automatically to prevent gas emission and/or
heating up of the battery. It is a safe and smooth multi-stage operation ie. 10A – 7.5A – 5A –
4A – 3A – 2A – 1.5A. The charger uses 1.5A trickle charge until the battery is full.
4. End of charge, maintenance charge.
