Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the EVER*CHILL Built-in Vehicle FROST-FREE REFRIGERATOR-FREEZER, Model No.: SRM-418CB-C. It provides essential information on the product's features, usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The EVER*CHILL SRM-418CB-C is a built-in vehicle frost-free refrigerator-freezer designed for use in recreational vehicles (RVs). It features separate compartments for fresh food (fridge) and frozen food (freezer), allowing for versatile food storage. The appliance is equipped with a frost-free system, eliminating the need for manual defrosting. It also includes a SMART CONTROL panel for easy temperature adjustment and mode selection.

Important Technical Specifications

The refrigerator-freezer operates on a standard 115VAC /60Hz electrical outlet with a three-prong ground. It is not designed to be used with an inverter. The unit uses R600a refrigerant.

Dimensions suggested for installation are:

  • Width (W): 753mm (29.6")
  • Depth (D): 678mm (26.7")
  • Height (H): 1846mm (72.7")
  • A: 1188mm (46.8")
  • B: 1000mm (39.4")
  • C (°): 122
  • E: 50mm (2")
  • F: 200mm (7.9")

The appliance requires specific ventilation clearances: at least 300mm (11.8") of free space at the top, more than 100mm (3.9") on both sides, and above 50mm (2") at the side.

The temperature display can be switched between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Fridge temperature settings cycle from 3°C to 6°C, then OF (off), and from 1°C to 3°C. In Fahrenheit, it cycles from 38°F to 43°F, then OF, and from 34°F to 38°F. Freezer temperature settings cycle from -22°C to -16°C, and from -8°F to 3°F.

Usage Features

The refrigerator-freezer is designed for built-in installation in an RV closet, with provisions for securing it with screws. After installation and cleaning, it should stand for at least 1 hour before being powered on to ensure normal operation.

The SMART CONTROL panel allows users to:

  • Unlock: Press the "unlock" button for 3 seconds.
  • Select Room: Touch the "ROOM" button to choose between the fridge and freezer compartments.
  • Adjust Temperature: Under unlock state, touch the "TEMPERATURE" button to change the temperature.
  • Select Mode: Press the "MODE" button to choose from different operating modes:
    • Smart Cooling Mode: Automatically adjusts temperature based on ambient conditions and internal refrigerator temperature, saving time and effort. This mode is disabled if Holiday or Super Freeze mode is enabled.
    • Quick Cooling Mode: Quickly lowers the fridge compartment temperature to keep food fresh, ideal for storing large quantities of food at once.
    • Super Freeze Mode: Freezes food in a short time. This mode has a default duration of 6 hours, with an option for 48 hours. The 48-hour option can be selected by pressing the "ROOM" button for 5 seconds after entering Super Freeze mode.
    • Holiday Mode: Automatically sets appropriate temperatures for both fridge and freezer compartments when the user is away for an extended period. All food from the fresh food compartment should be removed before activating this mode. The fridge temperature remains unchanged in this mode.

The manual also provides instructions for food storage:

  • Fresh Food Compartment: Suitable for non-frozen foods, cooked food, beer, eggs, condiments, milk, fruit juice, etc. The crisper box is for vegetables and fruits. Foods should be cleaned, wiped dry, and sealed before storage to prevent water evaporation and odor contamination. Avoid overpacking and ensure proper air circulation. Hot food should be cooled to room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator.
  • Frozen Food Storage Compartment: Suitable for ice cream, frozen food, and long-term preservation. Food packaging guidelines for storage duration should be followed. Large blocks of fish and meat should be cut into small pieces and packed in fresh-keeping bags.
  • Energy Saving Tips: Cool hot foods before placing them in the refrigerator, wrap foods properly, wipe containers dry, and organize/label food to reduce door openings.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: Regular cleaning is recommended, especially for the fresh food compartment (once a month). Remove all shelves, crisper box, bottle racks, cover board, and drawers. Clean with a soft towel or sponge dipped in warm water or neutral detergent. The rear panel and side plates should be cleared of dust. After using detergent, rinse with clean water and wipe dry.
  • Prohibited Cleaning Agents: Do not use bristle brushes, steel wire brushes, strong detergents (soap powder, alkaline detergent, benzene, gasoline, acid, hot water) or other corrosive/soluble items on the cabinet surface, door gasket, or plastic decorative parts to avoid damage.
  • Door Gasket Maintenance: Carefully wipe dry and clean the door gasket groove. After cleaning, fix the four corners of the gasket first, then embed it segment by segment into the door groove.
  • Power Interruption/System Failure: In case of extended non-running, minimize door openings to keep food safely stored for hours, even in hot weather.
  • Defrosting: The appliance has an automatic defrosting function, so manual defrosting is not required.
  • Lamp Replacement: The LED lamp is used for lighting. In case of abnormality, contact after-sales service personnel.
  • Disassembly of Parts: Instructions are provided for disassembling the fridge door bottle rack by holding it with both hands and pushing it up.

Fault Analysis and Elimination

The manual includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as:

  • Completely non-refrigeration: Check power source, breakers, fuses, and wiring.
  • Abnormal noise: Check if the refrigerator is stable and not contacting the wall.
  • Poor refrigerating efficiency: Check for hot/excessive food, frequent door openings, clipped food bags, direct sunlight/heat sources, ventilation, and temperature settings.
  • Peculiar smell: Check for spoiled food, cleanliness, and packed strong-flavored foods.
  • Light not working: Check for damaged LED light or if the control system has disabled lights due to the door being open too long (close and reopen to reactivate).

The manual explicitly warns against self-disassembly and repair by inexperienced persons, advising users to contact the local store or an authorized engineer for service and genuine spare parts. For long periods of non-use, disconnect power, empty and clean the refrigerator, and leave the door ajar to prevent unpleasant smells.
