Using external sensors
Calibrating
Before an external sensor can be used for the first time, the
KT-9 must be calibrated for the particular external sensor. Each
external sensor is always shipped with a diskette containing a
specific calibration program for it.
The calibration procedure is as follows (for more details, please
see page 54):

Connect the supplied cable (Part no. 97945) to the KT-9
computer port located on the bottom panel covering the
battery compartment.

Connect the other end of the cable to the
COM
1:
serial port
of your computer. Please note that this is a DB-9 connector.
If you have an older computer, you may require a DB-9 to
DB-25 adaptor.

Run the supplied
CALIB
program and follow the instructions
on the screen.

When the program ends with the message: “
Calibration
successful
, you are ready to use the external sensor.
Taking readings

Connect the sensor to the
SENSOR
connector located on the
bottom panel covering the battery compartment.

Turn on the KT-9 by pressing the button on the right side.

The KT-9 automatically recognizes that an external sensor
has been connected and shows either of the following dis-
plays, depending upon which hand mode (right or left)
was last selected:
r: EC
L: EC

Calibrating

Taking readings

Connect the sensor to the

Turn on the KT-9 by pressing the button on the right side.

The KT-9 automatically recognizes that an external sensor

plays, depending upon which hand mode (right or left)
was last selected:
