Overview

This document is an instruction manual for a kitchen extractor hood, providing detailed information on its installation, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The extractor hood is designed to remove cooking fumes, steam, and odors from the kitchen environment. It operates in two main modes:

  1. Air Outlet Ducting Version: In this mode, the hood extracts air from the kitchen and discharges it outside through an exhaust flue. This requires connection to a ducting system.
  2. Recirculation Version: In this mode, the hood filters the extracted air through activated charcoal filters to remove odors and then recirculates the cleaned air back into the kitchen. This version does not require an external exhaust flue.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Minimum Safety Distance: The minimum safety distance between the cooker top and the extractor hood is 650 mm. This distance must be respected, and if the gas hob instructions specify a greater distance, that must be followed.
  • Exhaust Flue Diameter: For the ducting version, the extractor should be connected to an exhaust flue through a pipe with a minimum diameter of 120 mm. The manual also mentions options for ø150 mm or ø120 mm pipes, with a reducer flange (Ref. 9) for the ø120 mm connection.
  • Electrical Connection: The hood requires connection to the mains through a two-pole switch with a contact gap of at least 3 mm. For Class I appliances, adequate earthing is essential. The mains voltage must correspond to that indicated on the rating plate.
  • Lighting:
    • Lamp 1: 4W, E14 socket, 220-240V, 107 x 37 mm (ILCOS Code: DRBB/F-4-220-240-E14-35/100).
    • Lamp 2: 5W, GU10 socket, 230V, 52 x 50 mm (ILCOS Code: DRPAR-5/840-220/240-GU10-35/36 or DRPAR-5/830-220/240-GU10-35/36).
  • Negative Pressure Limit: When used with non-electrical appliances (e.g., gas burning appliances), the negative pressure in the room must not exceed 0.04 mbar to prevent fumes from being drawn back into the room.
  • Dimensions: The hood has a width range of 598-898 mm, a minimum height of 560 mm, and a maximum height of 745 mm for the chimney section. The hood body itself has a height of 240 mm.

Usage Features

The control panel offers intuitive operation for lighting and extraction speed:

  • Light (L): Switches the lighting system on and off.
  • Motor (M): Switches the extractor motor on and off.
  • Speed (V): Sets the operating speed of the extractor with three levels:
    • Low Speed (V1): Used for continuous and silent air change in the presence of light cooking vapor. Ideal for maintaining air quality without significant noise.
    • Medium Speed (V2): Suitable for most operating conditions, offering an optimum treated air flow/noise level ratio. This is a balanced setting for general cooking.
    • Maximum Speed (V3): Used for eliminating the highest cooking vapor emission, including during long cooking periods or when strong odors are present.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the appliance's efficiency and safety.

  • Grease Filters:
    • Cleaning: Metal self-supporting grease filters must be cleaned every 2 months of operation, or more frequently with heavy usage. They are dishwasher-safe.
    • Removal: Filters are removed by pushing them towards the back of the group and pulling down simultaneously.
    • Refitting: Ensure the handle is visible on the outside when refitting.
  • Activated Charcoal Filters (Recirculation Version Only):
    • Replacement: These filters are not washable or regenerable and must be replaced approximately every 4 months of operation, or more frequently with heavy usage.
    • Removal: To replace, first remove the metal grease filters, then remove the saturated charcoal filter.
    • Installation: Fit new filters and then replace the metal grease filters.
  • Lighting Replacement:
    • Procedure: To replace bulbs, remove the metal grease filters, unscrew the old bulbs, and replace them with new ones of the same characteristics. Then, refit the grease filters.

Safety Information

  • Installation: Installation must be performed by a specialized technician. The manufacturer is not liable for damages from incorrect installation.
  • Wiring: Means for disconnection must be incorporated in the fixed wiring according to wiring rules.
  • Ducting: Do not connect the extractor hood to exhaust ducts carrying combustion fumes (e.g., from boilers or fireplaces).
  • Protection: Remove protective films before installation. Use only supplied screws and small parts. Failure to install screws or fixing devices correctly may result in electrical hazards.
  • Usage:
    • Do not look directly at the light through optical devices.
    • Do not flambé under the range hood due to fire risk.
    • Accessible parts may become hot when used with cooking appliances.
  • Children: The appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience, if supervised or instructed on safe use and understanding of hazards. Children should not play with the appliance, and cleaning/maintenance should not be done by children without supervision.
  • Disposal: The product should not be treated as household waste. It must be handed over to an applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment.
