Overview

This document describes the installation, programming, and components of Fabtex motorized drapery systems, specifically models ML-710B and ML-710MS.

Function Description

The Fabtex motorized drapery system allows for automated control of draperies using a motor and a remote control. The motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy to drive the drapery mechanism, enabling users to open and close their drapes wirelessly. The remote control, also referred to as a transmitter or controller, communicates with the motor via Radio Frequency (RF) signals.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Remote Frequency: 433MHz. The range of the remote can be affected by physical obstacles (e.g., walls made of brick, drywall, glass, steel) and the environment where the shading system is deployed.
  • Remote Battery: CR2430 3V (for the ML-551DT remote).
  • Charger (ML-710B): 110-220V charger for the battery.
  • Power Connection (ML-710MS): Built-in power cable for hardwire or plug-in connection.
  • Control Ports (ML-710MS): Crestron/Lutron ports for integration with other control systems.

Usage Features

Quick Start (ML-710B):

  1. Mount the Motor and Battery:
    • Determine the mounting side on the drapery rod.
    • Remove the pulley cap.
    • Slide the motor's top pin into the pulley and twist to secure.
    • Snap the lock clip shut.
  2. Power Up:
    • Attach the battery to the motor by twisting it into place. The motor will beep once and its light will flash, indicating it's in programming mode.
    • Charge the battery for several hours if the motor doesn't power up.
  3. Pair Motor to Remote:
    • While the motor is in programming mode (indicated by a flashing light and a single beep upon power-up), press and hold the middle (STOP) button on the remote for approximately 3 seconds.
    • The motor will emit 3 beeps and a green light, confirming successful pairing.
  4. Test:
    • Press the OPEN and CLOSE buttons on the remote to ensure the drapes move correctly.

Quick Start (ML-710MS):

  • Programming is only required if using an RF remote. For hardwired or plug-in connections, no further action is needed.

Programming Mode:

  • The STOP and P2 buttons on the remote are used for programming.
  • During programming, commands must be entered within 4 seconds, or the motor will exit Program Mode.
  • To restart programming mode for the ML-710B if pairing fails, use a thin tool to push the motor's Program button until it beeps and shows a green light, then attempt pairing immediately.

Remote Control (ML-551DT):

  • Front: Features OPEN, STOP, LED indicator, and CLOSE buttons.
  • Back: Contains PROGRAM or P2 buttons (for left and right controls, for 2 channels) and the BATTERY SLOT.
  • The remote is a wireless wall switch, surface mount, 1 channel, white.

Motor Placement:

  • The motor can be placed on either the left or right side of the motorized drapery rod.

LED Indicators:

  • The motor and remote (ML-551DT) both have LED indicators to show status.

Maintenance Features

Battery Charging (ML-710B):

  • The ML-710B motor kit includes a 110-220V charger.
  • Plug the charger into the battery charging port at the bottom of the motor and connect it to a power source.
  • Important Note: When leaving the factory, the lithium battery power is only 10%. It is recommended to fully charge the battery for 6 hours before the first usage.

Battery Replacement (Remote ML-551DT):

  • The remote uses a CR2430 3V battery, accessible via the BATTERY SLOT on the back of the remote.
