Overview

The FAMIDOC FDTH3400 is a high-tech electronic thermometer designed for measuring human body temperature. It utilizes the change in temperature and energy from the human body's heat source to provide accurate readings. This device offers both an 8-second rapid measurement mode and a direct measurement mode, allowing for quick and convenient health status checks anytime, anywhere. It is suitable for body temperature measurement in infants, children, and adults, with the recommendation that adults operate the thermometer for babies and children. The intended use includes axillary, oral, and rectal temperature measurement in hospitals, clinics, and home settings.

Function Description

The thermometer's primary function is to measure body temperature. It consists of a plastic shell, thermistor, PCBA, buzzer chip, LCD display, and a battery. The device operates on a d.c. 3.0V CR1632 button battery, which is pre-installed at the factory (a trial battery that may not offer the same lifespan as a new one).

To begin a measurement, press the "power key." The thermometer will display a full screen, followed by the last measured effective memory temperature value. The device automatically detects the mode used previously (adjusted or direct) and will continue in that mode for the current measurement. If the adjusted mode was used last time, it will automatically switch to direct mode and begin temperature measurement if the "power key" is pressed and held for 5 seconds from the off state. Conversely, if direct mode was used last time, it will switch to adjusted mode.

Once the "°C" or "°F" icon on the screen starts blinking, position the temperature sensor in the desired test area:

  • Axillary: Raise the arm, place the probe tip under the armpit parallel to the arm, pressing the arm against the body. Ensure the metal probe is completely wrapped by the armpit.
  • Oral: Place the thermometer in one of the two locations under the tongue, to the left or right of the root of the tongue. The measuring probe must be in good contact with the tissue. Close the mouth and breathe evenly through the nose to prevent measurement influence from inhaled/exhaled air. (Note: Nausea may occur for some sensitive individuals.)
  • Rectal: This is the most reliable method, especially for infants and small children. Lay the baby on its back, lift legs to approximately 90°, and hold ankles to prevent turning. Carefully insert the measuring probe 2 to 3 cm into the anal aperture until the metal probe is completely covered. (Note: A slight feeling of distension may occur after measurement.)

In direct mode, the measurement results are displayed with a prompt sound approximately 8 seconds after the thermometer detects human body temperature. If the temperature stabilizes or the test time reaches 5 minutes, the result will be displayed with a prompt sound.

The thermometer includes a temperature unit setting function. When the device is off, press and hold the "power key" for 5 seconds until the screen turns off, then release to enter the temperature unit setting interface. Continuing to hold the "power key" will automatically switch between °C and °F every 2 seconds. Release the key when the desired unit is displayed to select it, and the thermometer will enter the measurement state.

A low voltage prompt function is also integrated. Upon power-on, the thermometer checks the battery voltage. If the battery voltage is low but still sufficient for use, a battery icon will appear on the display without affecting operation. If the voltage is too low for continued use, the battery icon will flash for about 8 seconds before a forced shutdown, indicating that the battery needs replacement.

Usage Features

  • Rapid Measurement: Offers an 8-second rapid measurement mode for quick temperature readings.
  • Direct Measurement: Provides a direct measurement mode for more stable readings, especially recommended for oral and rectal temperatures.
  • Memory Function: Displays the last measured temperature value upon power-on.
  • Temperature Unit Switching: Allows users to easily switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) units.
  • Audible Prompts: Provides prompt sounds upon completion of measurement and for high body temperature indications.
  • High Temperature Alert: Alerts the user with a specific sound pattern ("beep beep beep") if the measured temperature is ≥37.60°C (99.68°F).
  • Error Indications: Displays "Err" for abnormal temperature rise (e.g., measurement process shedding), "Hi" if the temperature exceeds the maximum range, and "Lo" if it falls below the minimum range.
  • Automatic Shutdown: The thermometer will automatically power off after 30 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.
  • Battery Status Indicator: A battery icon indicates low battery voltage, prompting replacement when necessary.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe dirt from the mainframe. For more stubborn dirt, a cloth dipped in alcohol can be used. Cleaning is recommended monthly. Avoid washing with water or using abrasive cleaners, diluents, or volatile oils.
  • Probe Disinfection: After the measuring probe is soiled, use a soft cloth dipped in more than 75% medical alcohol to wipe the probe end. Contact customer service if the probe remains unclean.
  • Battery Replacement: The device uses one CR1632 button battery. To replace, turn the Phillips screwdriver counterclockwise to remove the screw on the battery cover, gently remove the cover, and take out the old battery. Insert a new battery according to the polarity marks in the compartment, then reinstall the cover and tighten the screws.
  • Storage: Store the product according to specified transportation/storage conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, high temperature, high humidity, dust, proximity to fire, or places vulnerable to vibration or shock.
  • Long-Term Storage: If the thermometer will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage.
  • Disposal: At the end of its lifecycle, dispose of the product and its accessory batteries according to local laws and regulations at an electronic equipment recycling collection point. Do not throw into household garbage or fire.
  • No User Repair/Modification: Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the product. Unauthorized maintenance or adjustments are not permitted.
  • Calibration: The thermometer is tested and calibrated at the time of manufacture. For questions regarding function or measurement accuracy, contact the dealer or manufacturer.
  • Initialization: Removing and repowering the battery will restore the thermometer to its factory settings.
