Checks and inspections
3.i - Checking the chain and the crank
mountings
- This check must be carried out by two people:
the rst raises the rear wheel so that it is not
in contact with the ground, while the second
rotates the right hand pedal crank clockwise.
Observing the bicycle from above, check that
the crown is aligned with the sprocket block.
Both the crown and the sprockets must be
completely free from eccentricity.
- Check for the presence of foreign bodies, re-
moving any that you may nd.
- Check the chain for signs of damage. Make
sure that the chain is completely free from any
damage caused by such elements as curved
chain plates, protruding chain pins etc., or any
jammed or blocked chain links.

Check that the crown is xed securely to the
right hand crank, and that there is no play.
3.l - Checking the electric motor
A faulty or damaged electric
drive system may cause a short
circuit, resulting in a re hazard.
- Visually inspect the electrical cables, making
sure that they are undamaged and installed
correctly.
- Do not switch the electrical control unit on un-
til you have completed all the other checks.
- Pay attention to any error messages that may
appear on the display.
3.m - Checking the lights (if tted)
This paragraph is only valid if the bicycle is
equipped for circulation on public roads ("Liv-
ing" version) or if the same have been added
successively.
Falling and accident hazards in
dark conditions and/or reduced
visibility. There is a high risk of
failing to see obstacles, or to be
seen by other road users.
- Check the integrity of front (37) and rear (38)
light xing elements (g. “24“ and “25”).
- Check that the lights switch on correctly.
- For the “Living“ version only
Consult section "06" for switch-on/o of the
front and rear lights.
The command key varies on the basis of the
instrument installed on the bicycle.
3.n - Checks various accessories
- The bicycle may be tted with other accesso-
ries (e.g.: pannier, bags, water bottle holder,
etc.).
- Make sure that all such accessories are tted
correctly and securely.
None of the parts must move.
There should be no squeaking or creaking.
If any of the parts move, secure them correctly.
3.o - Other checks
- If any of the bicycle components (or acces-
sories) are damaged, they may present sharp
edges tjhat could cause injuries.
- Check all the components for signs of damage.
Ask your vendor or a qualied technician to
repair or replace any damaged parts immedi-
ately.
