Do you have a question about the Fasttel FT23K and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Fasttel FT(B)23K(F) is a versatile door entry system, functioning primarily as an access keypad. It is designed to offer secure and flexible access control for various applications. The device can operate in three distinct modes: stand-alone with built-in relays, stand-alone with an optional external relay module (FT25KINT), or integrated into a Wiegand-based access control system, such as the Fasttel Door Access System (DAS).

Function Description:

The core function of the FT(B)23K(F) is to grant or deny access based on programmed codes entered via its keypad.

  • Stand-alone with built-in relays: In this configuration, the keypad utilizes its two internal relays to control access directly. This is a self-contained solution suitable for simpler installations where the keypad itself can manage the locking mechanism.
  • Stand-alone with FT25KINT: For enhanced security, the keypad can be connected to the optional FT25KINT DIN-rail module. This module houses the two relays, allowing them to be located in a secure area away from the keypad, thus preventing tampering with the locking mechanism directly at the door.
  • Wiegand connection: When integrated into a Wiegand system, the FT(B)23K(F) acts as a reader, sending keypad data to an external Wiegand controller. In this mode, the external controller manages the access logic, including the number of available codes and advanced access rules.

The outdoor unit is available in two physical forms: the FT23K for surface mounting and the FT23KF for flush mounting. Both versions feature a bronze panel, which can be obtained in three different colors or a black anodized finish, providing aesthetic flexibility to match various architectural styles.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Supply: The device requires a +12V DC power supply, with a current draw of 300mA.
  • Relay Outputs (Stand-alone):
    • Two built-in relays (Relay 1 and Relay 2) are available for direct control of locking mechanisms.
    • Alternatively, two relays on the FT25KINT module can be used.
  • Code Capacity (Stand-alone): When operating in stand-alone mode, the keypad can store up to 24 access codes.
  • Code Length: Programmed codes can consist of 4, 5, or 6 digits.
  • Wiegand Interface: The device supports Wiegand D0 and D1 data lines, as well as a common ground for Wiegand communication.
  • Physical Dimensions:
    • Flush-mounted model (FT23KF):
      • Height: 166 mm
      • Width: 55 mm
      • Recess dimensions: 132x48x20mm (Height x Width x Depth)
    • Surface-mounted model (FT23K):
      • Overall dimensions: Height: 136 mm
      • Width: 55 mm
  • Material: Bronze panel, available in three colors or black anodized.

Usage Features:

  • Access Codes: Users enter their unique 4, 5, or 6-digit codes on the keypad to gain access.
  • Relay Activation: The keypad can activate one of two relays, allowing for control of two separate access points or functions (e.g., a main door and a gate).
  • Relay Duration Control: The duration for which the internal relays remain active can be programmed. This can be set from 0.1 seconds (00 pulse of 100msec) up to 9.8 seconds (01-98 pulse from 1 to 98 seconds). A "toggle contact" option (99) is also available, where the relay state switches with each valid code entry.
  • Wiegand Protocol Selection: When operating in Wiegand mode, the device supports various Wiegand protocols, including:
    • Rosselare format
    • 6 Bit nibble (Paxton)
    • 8 Bit Wiegand (Digit)
    • 4 keys binary (Paxton)
    • Pincode format Fasttel DAS
    • Wiegand 26 This flexibility ensures compatibility with a wide range of existing Wiegand controllers.

Maintenance Features:

  • Programming Mode: Access to programming is secured by a master code (default 1996). A new programming code can be set for enhanced security.
  • Audible Feedback: The keypad provides distinct audible feedback for programming actions:
    • Three tones (tit tit tut) confirm entry into the main menu.
    • Two long beeps (tuttut) confirm a correct code entry during programming.
    • Three long tones (tuttuttut) indicate an incorrect code entry during programming.
  • Programming Relay Mode: Users can switch between using the FT25KINT module (default 930) or the internal relays (default 936) via programming codes.
  • Adding/Deleting Access Codes: Individual access codes can be added using the format 920 * i aa xxxxxx #, where i specifies the relay, aa is the index code (01-24), and xxxxxx is the access code. All programmed access codes can be deleted using the code 920*#.
  • Changing Programming Code: The master programming code can be changed using the 999 xxxx command, where xxxx is the new 4-digit code.
  • Exiting Programming Mode: The ### command is used to exit programming mode.

The Fasttel FT(B)23K(F) is designed for ease of installation and configuration, offering a robust and secure solution for door entry control, whether as a stand-alone unit or integrated into a larger access control system.
