1. C on struction
Th e t oo l is dri ve n by a ro bus t, fan- c ooled AC/DC motor m ount ed
in an e xtr a -r igid light alloy housing. T he co mp ac t planetary
reduction gearing is robust and silent in operation . Th e well-
balanced percussion mechanism is totally enclosed in the tool-
head casing and is easily removed . The tool ho ld er co mpli es
w
ith int e rn a ti o nal s tandards and has a

4" (19 mm) square drive.
2. Rev ersing the drive
is done by m ea ns of th e reve rs in g ring (1 4) mo un te d on th e
motor housing. Turn reversing ring only when tool is switched
off, otherwis e commutator and windings will be damaged.
3. Mode of operation

pp ro x. 1,100 r.p.m. is cut o ut as so on as th e screw or n ut h as
be en roughly run down. Once the motor reaches its ra t ed lo ad,
the percussion m ec hanism comes into operation and converts
the driv e forc e of the motor - which continues to run at uniform
speed - int o an int e rmittent torqu e applied at the rat e of 1,500
r.p .m., i.e. two str okes for each revo lu t ion of th e dr ive s pindl e.

As the clutch w ill always disengag e as soon as the ra te d load
is attain ed, th e mo tor cannot be ov e rl o ad ed.
4.
Application
The fu ll tightening or slackening action pro v ided depends on
th e tim e during which th e pe rcussion mechani sm is allowed to
run. Max. tig hte nin g to rq ue is th e s um of the to rqu e ap pli ed by
each stroke. According to the type of screwed connection the
max. torque will generally repre se nt betw e en 80 and 150 single
torqu e st ro kes , whi ch are appli ed in 3 to 5 se c ond s. Av ail a bl e

ax. torque in norm al servi ce is 185 lbs. ft. (26 kpm) (see di a-

5. Maintenance and · lubrication ·· -

should be lubricat ed ev ery ot her day by me ans of the oil er (81 )
