Overview

The Felicitysolar LiFePO4 Battery System for Households is a robust and expandable energy storage solution designed primarily for residential photovoltaic systems. This user guide provides comprehensive instructions for its introduction, installation, operation, and handling of emergency situations, emphasizing safety and optimal performance.

Function Description:

The core function of this device is to store electrical energy, primarily from solar power systems, for household use. It integrates seamlessly with existing solar setups, allowing homeowners to maximize their self-consumption of renewable energy and ensure a reliable power supply. The battery system is equipped with a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) that continuously monitors its operation, preventing it from exceeding its design limitations and ensuring safe and efficient performance. Its expandability feature allows users to increase storage capacity by adding more battery packs in parallel, catering to evolving energy needs. The system is designed to be user-friendly, with features that facilitate easy control and protection of household applications.

Important Technical Specifications:

The LiFePO4 Battery System is available in two models: LPBF48250 and LPBF48300, offering different capacities to suit various household requirements.

  • Usable Capacity: LPBF48250 provides 12.5KWH, while LPBF48300 offers 15KWH.
  • Nominal Voltage: Both models operate at a nominal voltage of 51.2V.
  • Voltage Range: The operational voltage range for both models is 48-57.6V.
  • MAX. Charge & Discharge Current: The maximum charge and discharge current is 200A for 15 seconds.
  • Recommended Charge & Discharge Current: A continuous recommended current of ≤120A is specified.
  • MAX. Output Power: The system can deliver a maximum output power of 10000W.
  • Recommended Output Power: The recommended continuous output power is 6000W.
  • DOD (Depth of Discharge): Both models support a ≥95% DOD, indicating high utilization of stored energy.
  • Modules Connection: The system supports parallel connection of 1 to 6 modules for expansion.
  • Communication: It utilizes CAN & RS485 for communication.
  • Ingress Protection: Rated at IP21, indicating protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm and vertically falling drops of water.
  • Cycle Life: The battery boasts a long cycle life of ≥6000 cycles at 25°C with 80% DOD.
  • Working Temperature Range: It can discharge in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +65°C and charge from +0°C to +55°C.
  • Net Weight: LPBF48250 weighs 159KG, and LPBF48300 weighs 183KG.
  • Product Dimension (MM): The dimensions are 615x350x955MM.
  • Package Dimension (MM): The package dimensions are 715x445x1125MM.

Recommended settings for optimal performance with inverters, MPPT charger controllers, or UPS include:

  • Max. Charging Voltage: 57.6V
  • Floating charging Voltage: 57.6V
  • Max. Charging Current: 120A*N (where N is the number of battery packs connected in parallel)
  • Cut-off voltage: 48V

Usage Features:

The system is designed for ease of use and flexibility:

  • Parallel Connection: Batteries can be connected in parallel for capacity expansion, supporting up to 6 modules. Series connection is explicitly not allowed.
  • Upright Position: The unit must be used and installed in an upright position.
  • Charging Compatibility: It is not allowed to connect the batteries with a PWM controller for charging.
  • Over-Discharge Protection: The built-in protection board prevents over-discharge. Users are strongly advised to stop using the load when the battery is over-discharged to prevent activation issues. Prompt charging when the battery is low is crucial.
  • Communication Ports: The unit includes various communication lines (for grid activation, inter-battery communication, and host computer connection) and a communication port with 8 pins, including Trigger-GND, Trigger-VCC, COMM-GND, RS485-B, RS485-A, CANL, and CANH.
  • DIP Switch Configuration: DIP switches SW1-SW4 are used to set the communication address (ID) for parallel operation, supporting up to 15 different IDs. SW5 is used to set the termination resistor for communication, with '1' indicating a 120Ω resistor and '0' indicating no resistor.
  • LED Indicators: An LED display shows the battery's State of Charge (SOC) in increments of 25% (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, and flashing for <10%). A Power On/Charging indicator and a separate LED for ON/OFF or SOC status provide clear operational feedback.
  • Switch On/Off: A simple press of the On/Off button activates the battery, initiating a self-inspection before enabling output. Holding the button for 3 seconds will shut down the battery.
  • Grid and PV Wake-up: The system supports automatic restart when grid power recovers (via a power adapter and communication line 1) and can be activated by PV when charged by solar panels only (via the PV awake wire connected to an MPPT charge controller).

Maintenance Features:

The manual outlines several safety and maintenance guidelines to ensure the longevity and safe operation of the battery system:

  • Safety Instructions: Emphasizes reading all instructions, avoiding disassembly, disconnecting all wirings before maintenance, and exercising caution with metal tools around batteries.
  • Qualified Personnel: Installation and servicing should only be performed by qualified personnel.
  • Environmental Requirements: The battery should be installed indoors, away from water, high temperatures, mechanical force, and flames. The recommended operating temperature range is 0°C to 45°C, and humidity should not exceed 80%. Heavy objects should not be placed on the battery.
  • Cable Sizing: Users must follow specified guidelines for selecting appropriate cable sizes.
  • Grounding: The system must be connected to a permanent grounded wiring system in compliance with local requirements.
  • Short Circuit Prevention: Never short circuit AC output and DC input. Do not connect to the mains when DC input short circuits.
  • SOC Calibration: The battery needs to be fully charged at least once a month to ensure accurate SOC calculation.
  • Emergency Procedures: Detailed instructions are provided for handling emergency situations such as fire (use SCBA, protective gear, NOVEC 1230, FM-200, or dioxide extinguisher), leaking batteries (evacuate, seek medical attention for inhalation, eye/skin contact, ingestion), and wet/damaged batteries (do not access, contact supplier, pack in original container for return).
  • Warranty: The warranty covers products operated strictly in accordance with the user manual. It is voided by modifications, unauthorized repairs, non-compliance with standards, improper storage, or transport damage (which should be claimed directly from the shipping or insurance company).
