The Fireboy-Xintex FR-1000/2000 is a sophisticated fire alarm monitor designed specifically for marine environments. This intelligent network system offers advanced features typically found in more expensive computer-based systems, providing an economical yet capable alternative to simpler monitoring solutions. It is suitable for both new installations and retrofits, offering maximum functionality for builders and retrofitters.
Function Description:
The FR-1000/2000 serves as a central monitoring unit for a fire detection system. It provides visual indicators for the system's status, including "OK" (system is all clear), "FAULT" (indicating an open or shorted smoke detection cable or sensor), and "FIRE" (a sensor has detected smoke or heat). The FR-1000 model monitors a single zone, while the FR-2000 model monitors two separate zones, typically designated as "Engine Room" and "Accom/Cabin."
The device includes an audible alarm that activates in case of a fault or fire. Users can mute the audible alarm and reset the sensors using the "SILENCE / RESET" button. A "TEST" button allows users to put the unit into test mode for five seconds, during which all LEDs and the alarm will activate.
The system is designed to detect and indicate various fault conditions:
- Short on the line: If a short is detected, the "OK" LED turns off, the "FAULT" LED and alarm turn on, and the sensor output turns off. Pushing the "SILENCE / RESET" button turns off the "FAULT" LED, and the "OK" LED flashes for one minute. After this delay, the sensor output turns on again to check the line. This process repeats until the short is removed.
- Open circuit on the line: If an open circuit is detected, the "OK" LED turns off, the "FAULT" LED and alarm turn on. Pushing the "SILENCE / RESET" button mutes the alarm. Once the system detects the EOL (End-of-Line) resistor, the "FAULT" LED turns off, and the "OK" LED turns on.
Important Technical Specifications:

- EOL Resistor for Door/Contact Switches: 2.2K EOL Resistor-12V, 5.6K EOL Resistor-24V
Usage Features:
- User-Friendly Interface: The monitor features clear visual indicators (OK, FAULT, FIRE LEDs) for quick status assessment.
- Multi-Zone Monitoring (FR-2000): The FR-2000 model allows for monitoring of two distinct areas, such as an engine room and accommodation/cabin areas, providing comprehensive coverage.
- Silence/Reset Functionality: The dedicated "SILENCE / RESET" button allows for easy management of alarms and system resets.
- Test Mode: A "TEST" button enables users to verify the functionality of the unit, including LEDs and the alarm, for diagnostic purposes.
- Versatile Sensor Compatibility: The system supports various types of sensors, including Apollo and Orbis sensors, as well as door switches or contact sensors, allowing for flexible system design.
- Compact and Stylish Design: The FR-1000/2000 is designed to be compact and modern, suitable for integration into marine dashboards or panels.
Maintenance Features:
- Self-Diagnostic Capabilities: The system automatically detects and indicates open or shorted sensor lines, aiding in troubleshooting.
- EOL Resistor Monitoring: The use of End-of-Line resistors helps the system detect wiring faults, ensuring system integrity.
- Simple Installation: The manual provides clear instructions for mounting the display and wiring the detector loops and power, simplifying the installation process.
- Replaceable Buzzer: The pre-wired buzzer can be replaced with an alternative indicator, provided its current draw does not exceed 0.75A (750mA), offering flexibility for customization or repair.
- Durable Construction: Designed for the marine environment, the system uses proven techniques and materials to ensure a long service life under demanding conditions.
Installation Guidelines:
The FR-1000/2000 should be mounted in a convenient location where visual indicators are easily seen. Installation involves drilling a 2-1/16" diameter hole, slipping the instrument through, and securing it with a threaded bezel. Wiring includes connecting the battery leads (9-30Vdc), detector loops (White for Zone + and Black for Zone - for FR-1000; Blue for Zone + and Black for Zone - for the second zone on FR-2000), and the pre-wired buzzer. Detailed wiring diagrams are provided for both FR-1000 and FR-2000 harnesses, as well as for connecting various sensor types (Apollo, Orbis, and door/contact switches).
Important Warning: This equipment is NOT intended for use in locations requiring exceptional degrees of protection, such as on deck, machinery spaces, cargo spaces, or areas within a galley, pantry, laundry, or water closet with a shower/bath, or other spaces with similar environmental conditions exposed to weather, seas, splashing, or pressure-directed liquids.
