Upon activation, Sonic the Hedgehog™ greets the user with an encouraging message, such as "Let's go! Keep Brushing Every Day to Unlock More Chaos Emeralds." The toothbrush gently vibrates, music plays, and the light ring illuminates, creating an immersive experience. Sonic the Hedgehog™ and his friends provide a guided brushing experience, starting with Zone 1 and progressing through all four zones of the mouth, each lasting approximately 30 seconds. During the brushing session, Sonic the Hedgehog™ delivers encouraging messages like "Keep Brushing!" Users can also interact with the toothbrush by flipping it at any time to hear a "cool flip" line from Sonic the Hedgehog™, or by pressing the Up/Down Arrows to play bonus sound effects, including Sonic the Hedgehog's™ signature spin and ring collection sound. The toothbrush also includes a "Practice Mode" for first-time users. In this mode, a vocal prompt guides the user to press the Emerald On/Off Button to begin brushing. After completing the practice session, users can use the Up/Down Arrows to select the color of an Emerald before pressing the Emerald On/Off Button again to start a new brushing session.
Adjusting the volume is straightforward: if the toothbrush is on, the Emerald Button should be long-pressed to turn it off. While the toothbrush is off, the Up/Down Arrows can be used to adjust the volume to the desired level.
The Firefly® Play Action™ Toothbrush kit includes two replacement brush heads with a tongue cleaner and a 3D Antibacterial Cap* featuring Sonic the Hedgehog™. This cap contains silver, which naturally inhibits bacterial growth to help protect the cover, promoting hygiene.
Attaching and removing the toothbrush head is a simple process. To attach a brush head, align the dot on the back of the head with the arrow on the top of the handle. Then, firmly place the brush head onto the handle and twist until the dots on both the handle and brush head are aligned. To remove a brush head, twist it until the dot on the back of the head aligns with the arrow on the top of the handle, and then pull it straight off.
The device also allows for battery replacement. To access the battery compartment, users need to locate the screw on the back of the handle and remove it using a small Phillips head screwdriver. Gently pulling down on the red plastic cap reveals the inside of the battery compartment. Each battery should be removed and recycled according to local requirements. New AAA batteries should be inserted, paying attention to the correct direction indicated by the battery symbol. After replacing the batteries, the red plastic cap should be replaced, ensuring all parts are aligned and the screw hole on the back of the handle is visible and firmly secured. Finally, the screw should be replaced using a clockwise motion until the screw head is flush with the handle.
A "Parent Mode" is available to allow parents to monitor their child's brushing progress. To access this mode, the Emerald Button should be long-pressed while the toothbrush is powered off. In Parent Mode, feedback on the most recent brushing progress is provided, including whether all four zones were completed or not, recent progress, and an indication of when it's time to change the brush head (after a sufficient number of brushing sessions have been completed). This feature helps parents ensure their child is maintaining good oral hygiene and that the toothbrush is being used effectively.
