User Maintenance Instructions - DD24/DD60 Models
Disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply (unplug or switch off at the circuit
breaker) and allow all its parts to cool before any cleaning or maintenance.
Holiday Time
If the dishwasher is not going to be used for some time, we recommend you leave it clean and empty. Leave the
drawer(s) ajar to allow air to circulate. Turn off both the power and water supply to the dishwasher.
When using your dishwasher for the first time after a long period away, we recommend pouring 3 cups of water into
the drawer before loading and starting a wash. This is to lubricate components that may have dried out during non-
use.
Cleaning the Surfaces
1. Wipe with a clean damp cloth. Take care not to wet the control panel.
2. Dry with a clean lint-free cloth.
We do not recommend the use of the following cleaning aids on your dishwasher as they
may damage the surfaces:
Plastic or stainless steel scouring pads
Acid or alkaline cleaners
Stainless steel cleaners or polishes
Abrasive, solvent, household cleaners
Hand washing liquids or soap
Laundry detergents or disinfectants

Overview

This document provides user maintenance instructions for Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer™ dishwashers, specifically covering DD24/DD60 and DD36/DD90 models. It outlines procedures for cleaning various components and offers guidance for periods of non-use.

Function Description

The Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer™ dishwasher is designed to clean dishes and cutlery efficiently. It features a unique drawer-style design that allows for flexible loading and operation. The appliance incorporates a spray arm, filter plate, and drain filter system to ensure thorough cleaning and proper water drainage. The dishwasher is equipped with a control panel for operation and various internal racks and supports to accommodate different types of dishware.

Usage Features

Holiday Time: For periods when the dishwasher will not be used for some time, it is recommended to leave it clean and empty. The drawer(s) should be left ajar to allow air circulation, and both the power and water supply to the dishwasher should be turned off. This helps prevent odors and maintains the internal environment. When reactivating the dishwasher after a long period of non-use, it is advised to pour three cups of water into the drawer before loading and starting a wash cycle. This step lubricates internal components that may have dried out, ensuring smooth operation.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning the Surfaces: The exterior surfaces of the dishwasher should be cleaned with a clean, damp cloth. Care must be taken to avoid wetting the control panel. After wiping, the surfaces should be dried with a clean, lint-free cloth to prevent water spots or streaks.

Cleaning Aids to Avoid: To prevent damage to the dishwasher's surfaces, certain cleaning aids should not be used. These include:

  • Plastic or stainless steel scouring pads
  • Acid or alkaline cleaners
  • Stainless steel cleaners or polishes
  • Abrasive, solvent, or household cleaners
  • Hand washing liquids or soap
  • Laundry detergents or disinfectants

These products can scratch, corrode, or otherwise degrade the finish and materials of the appliance.

Cleaning the Drain Filter, Spray Arm, and Filter Plate: Regular cleaning of these internal components is crucial for maintaining the dishwasher's performance and preventing blockages.

Drain Filter: The drain filter should be cleaned whenever there is visible evidence of food particles. To clean the drain filter:

  1. Disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply (unplug or switch off at the circuit breaker).
  2. For DD24/DD60 models, lift up the plastic grid above the drain filter. For DD36/DD90 models, ensure the tines above the drain filter are in the upright position.
  3. Lift and remove the drain filter. It is normal to find some water underneath it.
  4. Empty any debris from the filter and rinse it clean under running water.
  5. Replace the drain filter back into its allocated space, ensuring it is flush with the filter plate.
  6. Lower the plastic grid back into place (DD24/DD60 models).
  7. Reconnect the dishwasher to the power supply.

Spray Arm: The spray arm may require cleaning approximately once a month during normal use, or more frequently if needed. To clean the spray arm (DD24/DD60 models):

  1. Disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply.
  2. Unclip any glass supports and fold all adjustable racks away to be upright and close to the top.
  3. Carefully remove the base rack, lifting from the back end first to avoid hitting the detergent and rinse aid dispenser.
  4. Lift the spray arm and shake out any foreign material.
  5. Rinse the spray arm clean under running water and wipe it with a damp cloth.
  6. Lift and remove the drain filter (this step is repeated here, implying it's part of the spray arm removal process for these models).

To clean the spray arms (DD36/DD90 models):

  1. Disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply.
  2. Remove the cutlery basket.
  3. Unclip any glass supports and fold all adjustable racks away to be upright and close to the top.
  4. Fold down all the tines.
  5. Carefully remove the base rack, starting from the back and tilting as needed to clear adjustable racks and the dispenser.
  6. Unclip the spray arms from their mounting valves and shake out any foreign material.
  7. Rinse the spray arm clean under running water and wipe it with a damp cloth.

Filter Plate: The filter plate typically does not require regular cleaning, but any food particles on its surface can be wiped off with a clean, damp cloth. To clean the filter plate (DD24/DD60 models):

  1. In the center of the filter plate, locate two rings. Turn the outer ring anticlockwise by about 1/8 turn to release the filter plate.
  2. Lift out the filter plate.
  3. Remove any foreign material, wash the filter plate in hot soapy water, rinse thoroughly in clean water, and wipe with a damp cloth. Exercise caution when handling the sharp outer edge.

Replacing Components (DD24/DD60 models): Filter Plate and Spray Arm:

  1. Before replacing the filter plate, ensure the O-ring is correctly positioned on the base.
  2. Orient the filter plate and lower it into place, making sure its kidney-shaped hole aligns with the matching recess in the dishwasher base.
  3. Ensure the filter plate lies flat in the base, then lock it into position by turning the outer ring clockwise until the marks align and all three pin pairs firmly interlock. The filter plate should not move freely.
  4. Replace the drain filter, ensuring it is flush with the filter plate.
  5. Replace the spray arm back onto the impeller.
  6. Replace the base rack, lowering its front edge into position first.
  7. Plug the dishwasher back in or turn it on at the power supply.

Replacing Components (DD36/DD90 models): Spray Arms and Base Rack:

  1. Clip the spray arms back onto their mounting valves. Apply gentle pressure until they click into place. Rotate them to ensure proper location.
  2. Replace the base rack, lowering its front edge into position first.
  3. Clip the glass supports back on and arrange the racking as preferred.
  4. Plug the dishwasher back in or turn it on at the power supply.

General Maintenance Note: If a dishwasher cleaner/descaler is used, a wash program with detergent must be run immediately afterward to prevent any damage to the dishwasher. The dishwasher must always be used with the filter plate, drain filter, and spray arm(s) correctly in place.

Safety Precaution: If there is broken crockery or glass in the drawer, it must be carefully removed to prevent damage to the dishwasher and for user safety.
