Overview

This document is an installation and user guide for the Fisher & Paykel Built-In Integrated Rangehood models HP60ICSX4 and HP90ICSX4, intended for the NZ and AU markets.

Function Description

The Fisher & Paykel Built-In Integrated Rangehood is designed to extract cooking fumes, odors, grease, and smoke from the kitchen environment. It can be installed to operate either by ducting exhaust air externally or by recirculating filtered air within the kitchen using carbon filters. The rangehood features a fan with multiple speed settings and integrated lighting to illuminate the cooktop.

Important Technical Specifications

Product Dimensions (HP60ICSX4 / HP90ICSX4):

  • Overall height of product (with ducting adapter): 285 mm (338 mm) / 315 mm (372 mm)
  • Overall width of product: 492 mm / 792 mm
  • Overall depth of product: 277 mm / 277 mm
  • Thickness of flange: 2.5 mm / 2.5 mm
  • Width of chassis: 450 mm / 750 mm
  • Depth of chassis: 255 mm / 255 mm
  • Height of side of chassis: n/a / 115 mm
  • Width of top surface of chassis: 251 mm / 410 mm
  • Length of angled surface of chassis: 300 mm / 261 mm
  • Distance from centre of ducting outlet to back of chassis: 161 mm / 84 mm
  • Distance from centre of ducting outlet to side of chassis: 225 mm / 375 mm
  • Diameter of ducting outlet: 150 mm / 150 mm
  • Length of power cord: 1200 mm / 1200 mm

Weight:

  • HP60ICSX4: 6.5 kg
  • HP90ICSX4: 8.8 kg The appliance is heavy and requires adequate care during installation to prevent personal injury. It must be installed onto a solid wall, stud, beam, or truss.

Cabinetry Cutout Dimensions (HP60ICSX4 / HP90ICSX4):

  • Overall width of cutout: 460 mm / 760 mm
  • Overall depth of cutout: 260 mm / 260 mm
  • Base of brackets/clips to bottom of chassis: min. 15 mm - max. 35 mm for both models.
    • Note: If installing in cabinetry with base thickness >35mm, material around the mounting surface must be removed so that the thickness is <35mm for the brackets/clips to engage.

Minimum Clearances:

  • Height from top of cooktop to base of rangehood: min. 600 mm - max. recommended 750 mm.
    • The rangehood must not be installed lower than the minimum height. Installation at the minimum height improves efficiency, while installation at the maximum height improves ergonomics.

Electrical Requirements:

  • The rangehood must be plugged into an accessible socket near the appliance or have an accessible isolating switch.
  • A power outlet should be within 750 mm of the motor assembly, located on the wall, behind the chimney, or in the ceiling.
  • The voltage (V) and frequency (Hz) indicated on the serial plate must match the installation site's supply.

Ducting:

  • For ducted installation, 150 mm diameter, rigid or semi-rigid ducting is recommended.
  • A 160 mm (min) round hole in the ceiling or wall is required for ducting.
  • The shortest and straightest duct route possible should be used for optimal efficiency, reduced noise, and increased airflow.
  • Flexible metal ducting should only be used as a last resort and must be straight, smooth, and extended as much as possible.
  • Exhaust air must not be discharged into an existing flue used for other fuel-burning appliances.
  • Adequate room ventilation is required when the rangehood is used simultaneously with gas or other fuel-burning appliances.

Usage Features

Control Panel Features:

  • Lights: Turn the lights on or off.
  • Fan: Turn the rangehood fan on or off.
  • Fan speed 1 - 3: Adjust the fan speed levels from 1 (lowest) to 3 (highest).

Induction Cooking Considerations:

  • Induction cooktops can lead to condensation on cooler rangehood surfaces due to efficient heating of the pot contents rather than the surrounding air.
  • Minimizing Condensation:
    • Install the rangehood at the maximum specified height.
    • Use the rangehood on a lower speed setting when boiling.
    • Use the induction cooktop on a lower heat setting when boiling.
    • Switch the rangehood on 5 minutes before cooking and let it run for at least 5 minutes after cooking.

Recirculation Mode:

  • If external ducting is not possible, the rangehood can operate in recirculation mode using carbon filters.
  • Venting directly into the cabinet without ducting and a louvered vent is not permitted.
  • A 150mm louvered vent must be installed on the side or front of the cabinet to allow ventilated air to recirculate into the kitchen.
  • Carbon filters are required to remove odors.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • General Cleaning: The rangehood should be cleaned regularly with a mild, liquid detergent and a clean soft cloth to prevent grease build-up. Avoid corrosive chemicals, abrasive cleaning products, hard brushes, and steel wool pads.
  • Aluminium Filters:
    • Should be removed and cleaned with hot soapy water or in a dishwasher at least once a month, depending on use.
    • When washing in a dishwasher, place filters in an upright position.
    • Discoloration of frames may occur.
    • To remove: Pull the filter catch, tilting it downwards until it disengages. Reverse to refit.
  • Carbon Filters (for recirculation mode):
    • Disposable items designed to remove grease and odors.
    • Must be replaced periodically, at least once every three months, depending on frequency of use.
    • Saturated carbon filters limit airflow and can be flammable in case of fire.
    • To fit: Ensure rangehood is off. Remove aluminum grease filters. Place a carbon filter on each side of the blower inlet, turning until it clips into place (clockwise on one side, counterclockwise on the other). Refit aluminum grease filters.

Light Bulb Replacement:

  • Light bulbs are not user-replaceable.
  • Contact a Haier trained and supported service technician for light replacement.

Safety Precautions:

  • Always disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply before maintenance or repairs.
  • Installation and electrical wiring must be done by qualified persons according to codes and standards.
  • Wear gloves to protect against sharp edges during installation and maintenance.
  • Never leave frying food unattended due to fire risk from overheating grease.
  • Do not flambé under the rangehood.
  • Never use the rangehood without filters in place.
  • Accessible parts may become hot when used with cooking appliances.
  • Remove all packaging before use.

Warranty and Customer Care:

  • A 2-year Manufacturer's Warranty covers parts and labor for servicing within the country of purchase.
  • The warranty does not cover service calls unrelated to product defects, defects from non-normal domestic use, accidents, neglect, misuse, or unauthorized repairs.
  • Regular maintenance as per the user guide is recommended.
  • Customer care contact details for New Zealand and Australia are provided, including toll-free numbers, fax, website, and postal addresses.
  • Product registration is encouraged for better service.
